Birdman Crowns Himself Hip Hop’s Best CEO: ‘Put Some Respek On My Name’

Birdman has crowned himself the best Hip Hop CEO to ever do it, while again taking aim at Billboard for not recognizing the moguls behind an artist’s success.

The Cash Money Records founder took to Instagram on Thursday (March 16) with a post that dragged Billboard for not mentioning the Hip Hop CEOs who have helped the culture. In his post, Birdman included a picture of the Billboard logo and claimed he’s the best CEO Hip Hop has had across its 50 years.

“@billboard I see you’ll did 10 best rappers which is well respeked but what about tha CEO who made thaway for these rappers to be Supa stars fought tha battle behind doors,” Birdman wrote. “So they kan be super stars put some respek on my name and stop playin with me I’m tha best to ever doit nothing but love for all CEO ever in 50yrs of hip hop we held it down cash money rich gang STUNNAMAN tha best ever #THEGOATMAKER I doit do 4MS GLADYS #dont lie @cashmoneyofficial.”

Billboard and VIBE turned the Hip Hop world upside down with their 50 Greatest Rappers list in honor of Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary. The list showed love to the likes of Kanye West, André 3000, Lauryn Hill, Ice Cube, Rakim, LL COOL J and Black Thought across its No. 50 to No. 11 picks.

The final 10 spots included Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, Drake, Lil Wayne, The Notorious B.I.G., Eminem, 2Pac, Nas, Kendrick Lamar and JAY-Z. The list drew polarizing reactions from fans and artists alike, with Ice Cube, Ja Rule and others giving their two cents on the matter.

Last month, Birdman took things a step further and criticized Billboard for not mentioning the CEOs who have changed the culture. According to the 54-year-old, he doesn’t understand why all the talk about the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop is revolved mainly around the “legendary artists” who changed the game.

In his mind, the music executives should be celebrated just as much since they’ve played just as important a role in the rise of Hip Hop as the artists they helped put on.

“Im confused about 50yrs of Hip Hop where they salute legendary artists which is well respeked also I think CEOs who kept these artists alive to be great showed them how to keep hip hop alive should be saluted in a major way,” Birdman wrote.

“I remember wen they said Hip Hop was dead and we Kept it alive YMCMB 20plus summers respek our hussle CEO s kept hip hop alive frfr @cashmoneyofficial #RICHGANG #STUNNAMAN.”

    1. Wtf is up with his autocorrect? I know the man can’t spell for ish, but damn. He get Boss Baby to send out the post? I’m here dissing this young generation for not also writing in cursive, but you have a CEO with elementary spelling skills? Billboard should release a top 10 list of CEO’s that can’t spell or make any damn sense. That skull ink made him sound dumber.

      1. He seems to have left the ”C” out of a few words. Maybe since he seems to identify as a blood? I know in these times of atrocious internet shorthand, people don’t care, but he is not from this new generation, and should present himself as the boss he thinks he is, not a 13 girl on Tik Tok.

    2. Your name is solidified amongst the fakest gang bangers to ever touch the mic in hip hop history mr “5 star” general 😂😂😂

      1. Gangbanger? You sound like a clown. Baby has never claimed to be a gang banger. I don’t think you know what that is .🤡

    3. He also followed the Bad Boy business plan of raping his artist physically, mentally, financially, and sexually.

    4. Dude was lucky to have Nicki & Drake when he did. All he did was keep Wayne drunk off that lean and had him believe that Young Money was an actual label when in fact it was Cash Money all along.

    5. BURD-MAN, bitch please! Hiphop was and is dead. So dead that death manifests itself in your “Hiphop community”. It’s well known that CMR (after the HOTBOYS era) was an artist graveyard.
Again, Drake and Nicki are high off HYPE, HELIUM, AND HOE-SHIT!!!!!!
The only classic shit you have is from the HOTBOYS ERA. You get 4 that and only that, BURD-MAN.

      1. Hip Hop isn’t dead! U mean commercial rap imo. Underground hip hop still bangs every year. Mainstream record labels hate creativity.

    7. This generation doesn’t know their history! No direction. The lost generation of written poetry. BRING BACK HIP HOP TO THE MAINSTREAM AGAIN.

    9. This generation doesn’t know their history! No direction. The lost generation of written poetry. BRING BACK HIP HOP TO THE MAINSTREAM AGAIN. Non controversial statements are censored on Hip Hop Dx. Faggot, Nigga, White trash and Hispanic racist slurs are good business.

    10. Maybe the most back stabbing, thieving CEO in Rap/HipHop. It’s well known that Baby stiffed many artists, producers, etc out of money with his ‘Fuck you, sue me to get paid” mentality. So, who the hell should ‘respek’ that? Also, if you want to be ‘respeked” learn how to put out a proper message as a CEO. You sound like a 50yr old fool!

    14. It probably is Baby for the best rap executive ever lol. Look at all his artists from day 1, cumulative record sales, Baby’s influence on the rap game, and having relevant artists!
