From lambasting Common for his “gangsta” ways to criticizing Pepsi for giving Ludacris an endorsement deal to accusing Nas of being “as violent as they come,” Fox News TV host Bill O’Reilly hasn’t made many friends in the world of Hip Hop. Now, the outspoken political commentator has most likely lost even more clout amongst Hip Hop heads for a recent comment in which he called himself “a brother.”
According to the Huffington Post, Papa Bear O’Reilly was talking with frequent guest Bernie Goldberg last night about why Goldberg is the whitest person he knows. In response, Goldberg showed a picture of himself that he took with Ice Cube, to whom he mistakenly referred to as Ice-T. O’Reilly corrected Goldberg’s mistake, jokingly referring to himself as “a brother” and saying that he “know[s] the Cubes from the Ts.”
“That’s Ice Cube, that’s not Ice-T,” O’Reilly said. “That’s just how White you are, Bernie. You don’t know Ice-T from Ice Cube…I’m a brother man, you can’t be doing that to me. I know the Cubes from the Ts.”
Although thought he may have been making a joke, Ice-T didn’t think it was funny. The west coast emcee took to Twitter when he learned of O’Reilly’s on-air assertion, replying “Fuck Bill O’Reilly.”
This isn’t the first instance in which O’Reilly has made a crass and racially-charged comment. In 2006, he equated 50 Cent to a religious symbol for Kwanzaa, and then a year later, made his now-infamous comment about being surprised by the civility he experienced at soul food eatery Sylvia’s Harlem Restaurant.

O’Reilly is the epitome of clueless arrogance; so narcissistic he thinks he’s much more funny than he is, much more intelligent than he actually is, and from time to time will indulge in himself that only show everyone else but him just how deep in his bubble he’s trapped.
I wouldn’t call his remarks “racism” because they’re born not from any racial sense, but just from failing to understand exactly how crass, stupid, and arrogant he is perceived by everyone else in existence. He does it all the time to other groups and people but racial sentiments get the most play and attention. This is the same guy who routinely called a courageous abortion provider Dr. Tiller, “Tiller the Baby Killer”, on his show, the doctor is murdered by a lunatic during his church service (after having survived other attempts at his life over the years), and O’Reilly goes on the air honestly confused and defensive about why he should take any blame. Secretly, he’s happy Dr. Tiller was killed, considering he knew what he was doing singling him out and riling the entire country up, knowing it only takes is one crazy asshole with a gun, but he won’t admit it.
He mocks hip-hop because it’s easy and sees no reason to bother knowing much about it. Most of his audience happens to be old people, like himself, so what can you honestly expect? Hip-hop is “gangsta rap” terrorizing and pillaging the purity of the suburbs, subconsciously commanding its listeners to degrade women, steal, dress like hoodlums, and commit crimes, and the artists who perpetuate it are no better than drug dealers. He labeled Common a “gangsta rapper” and did the same to Ludacris – this guy is too willingly stupid to be a racist.
You mistake his INTELLIGENCE as his ARROGANCE. Grown people know how to say things without SLURS or CURSES, so when they sound like they’re talking normal, MANY times they are OFFENDING the hell out of you.
You also underestimate the demographic of his audience. This whole article is based on the FACT that he KNOWS rap MORE THAN YOU THINK to CORRECT SOMEONE ELSE ON IT.
