Big Sean has provided an update on his new album while teasing a “top secret” project with DJ Khaled and Ludacris.

In a video posted on Instagram by Khaled on Thursday (January 11), the Detroit rapper revealed he’s currently finishing the follow-up to his 2020 project Detroit 2.

“I ain’t seen my brother in a minute, he been working on — I can tell them you’re working on a new album, right?” Khaled said while sat next to Sean on the set of a shoot.

Sean replied: “Man, working on it? Finishing it. I’m not working on it. I mean, we really finished it.”

In the caption of his post, DJ Khaled said he was on a “TOP SECRET set with my brother @bigsean!” while adding: “His new album on the way!”

Khaled also shared photos of him and Big Sean hanging out with Ludacris, while it appears Latto is also involved in the mystery project.

Big Sean and DJ Khaled have collaborated many times in the past on songs such as “Holy Key,” “Thank You,” “Work for It,” “On Everything,” “I’m So Blessed,” “This Is My Year,” “Jealous,” “Future” and “You Don’t Want These Problems.”

During an interview with the Michigan Chronicle in September, Sean talked about the progress of his new project and how much his son motivates his art.

“I’m writing a book, finishing my album, I’m doing all these things,” he said. “My son definitely motivates me. Whenever I’m making something, I just keep him in mind and that’s good.”

The former G.O.O.D. Music MC described his new music as “fun” and said those who have heard it have compared it to his earlier work.

Reflecting on fatherhood, he added: “It’s incredible. I don’t know how else to describe it. I feel like he’s the best part of me and the best part of his mom. It’s not just us giving him all these things. He gives us so much too.

“He gives us that energy and that untapped, raw, beautiful, love. It’s beautiful and it’s fun. It’s draining but also energizing at the same time. It’s definitely my purpose for sure now.”
