The never-ending controversy surrounding Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s “Control (HOF)” is still a hot topic of discussion. Big K.R.I.T., one of the emcees called out on the track, recently spoke to Revolt about the verse and his take on it.
K.R.I.T. revealed that the track was excellent exposure for him. “It’s one of those things where I appreciated the promotion, for one,” said K.R.I.T. “He mentioned me, a lot of people were like, ‘Why the fuck he say Big K.R.I.T. name?’ And then they went and checked out my music, they went and heard [A$AP Rocky’s] ‘1 Train,’ and now they understand.”
“It’s a lot of people on Twitter that never heard my music before, now they going back… I’ve been lyrical, I’ve been putting it down,” he added.
Ultimately, K.R.I.T. didn’t take the matter personally. “I didn’t take it that seriously as a diss. Hip Hop is competitive, but I am a competitor. This is a gladiator kind of sport. Ain’t no goddamn beef. It’s like a respect. If you’re on a basketball court, and you know a nigga cross you over, you might play defense with him a little different. You won’t let the nigga break your ankle. I would assume not, and that’s what I’m not trying to do. Ain’t no one gonna shake me…”
K.R.I.T. was also asked when fans could expect his next album. “When I can ride from Atlanta…to Mississippi, and listen to the project, and not feel like I gotta mix something, that I gotta change something, that I gotta resequence these records. By myself, though. Nobody’s opinion, just me. I can ride from point A to point B, and I feel content with it? That’s when I know it’s ready, because that’s what music helps you do, get from point A to point B.”
Big K.R.I.T. recently spoke with HipHopDX, revealing that his next project will be more soulful, and feature contributions from Terrace Martin, DJ Dahi, Chad Hugo, and others.

Kendrick has a big mouth. K.R.I.T is the only rapper saving southern hip hop, real hip hop from the South taking lineage from Scarface, none of that trap clown shit. LFTU is one of the best albums from the south in years.
LFTU is just ok to me(just my opinion). The song with Melanie Fiona and Rich Dad Poor Dad are incredible songs though. His mixtapes were way better. I like K.R.I.T. a lot, and love what he represents, but I’m hoping his next album is better. He’s capable of better.
I agree with dizzy. I liked the intro, my sub, rich dad poor dad, and if I fall. He gave me good quality on the album but the mixtapes is when you see him go at it. Plus his production suits him so well. I always told myself he’s like a mix of andre 3000 and pimp c.
^^I’m worried about the production on his next album. I love hearing KRIT over his own beats, but I guess on this one he’s letting some different producers work with him. Guess we’ll see how that goes.

I look at what KL did as more of a wake up call. Hip-Hop, with the exception of a few, especially major mabel Hip-Hop, is so f***ing stale right now. KL is trying to spark dialogue and competition. Good for KRIT and his understanding of what this is. Look at the quality that came out of cats responding, rocking over the “Control” instrumental! It was good for the genre. More cats need to do this. KL was just the first to go on record, calling out cats he very obviously respects immensely, to wake the f*** up and revive the game.
