Big K.R.I.T. Hints At Sophomore Album Title, Confirms Def Jam Involvement

When Cinematic Entertainment inked a deal with Sony Red late last summer, some speculated what that meant for the label’s flagship artist, Big K.R.I.T. The Meridian, Mississippi native had just released his debut album, Live From The Underground, two months in conjunction with Def Jam Records. The album was a Top 5 debut the week of release, and included contributions from label-mates 2 Chainz and Ludacris.

In an interview with Dead End Hip Hop, K.R.I.T. confirms that Def Jam will be home to his sophomore album. In doing so, the 2011 HipHopDX Producer Of The Year also alluded to the work’s title, claiming it’s plainly heard on his debut.

“Every album, I told you what the name of the next album was going to be,” K.R.I.T. said, referring to his acclaimed string of mixtapes since 2010 which include K.R.I.T Wuz Here, Return Of Forever, Forever N’ A Day and most recently, King Remembered In Time, along with his retail debut. “The name of my next album, on Def Jam [Records], is in the first song on Live From The Underground. It’s in the intro. Literally, in the first 30 seconds of [“LFU300MA”], I say what the name of the next project is.”

Phrases K.R.I.T. uses in the first 30 seconds of the intro include “Experimental South Sound” and “Natural Mind Elevators.”

    1. i’m watching out for this king remembered in time was too dope, hopefully he’ll have a bit of creative control on his follow up album

      1. He Had Creative Control On The First One….His Only Issues Was Adjusting To Not Being Able To Sample As Much Cause Most Of It Wouldnt Get Cleared & Realizing The Fact That Giving Away 4eva N A Day Watered Down His Album…..

      2. Right. Nowadays, people buying your album because you gave away high quality free music, not because the LP itself is that dope. And it’s not just KRIT, for example the same goes for J. Cole as well. That’s how fucked up the industry right now: 9 out of 10 mainstream artist are aiming to mass appeal, so no surprise that the end is some random, generic bullshit without remarkable content. Before y’all buggin out on this one, I’m not talking about KRIT and Cole right here: they made a decent work with their respectable LPs, but neither one lived up to its potential.

    2. My top fav artist right now… U cant deny his lyrics or his producing skills… #ISalute

    3. Someone needs to tell me why people aren’t throwing mountains of cash at K.R.I.T. for the beats he makes. And he’s a dope ass rapper too. Classic Southern sound with actual substance in an era of annoying trap music. Don’t get a lot of that! I’m stoked!

      [Intro: Va$htie]
“Do not be alarmed. You have activated a pre-recording. This is LFU300MA. To hear clearly, adjust volume to maximum velocity. Thank you and enjoy”

      [Big Krit]
“Back one more gain for all them players
      Natural women and mindframe elevators
Ten toes down with this experimental south sound
Dope up the lines enough to go around and around and around this world thrice over”

      What’s your bet … ?

    6. He mentioned this months ago actually back in 2012 but didn’t say where in the album, but the 2nd album is probably “Ten Toes Down” paying homage to 8Ball&MJG because they have a album called the same thing and he is heavily influenced by them.
