Beyoncé Defiantly Addresses Grammys Album Of The Year Snubs On ‘Cowboy Carter’

Beyoncé has called out the Grammy Awards for never giving her Album of the Year on her new album Cowboy Carter.

The singer takes aim at the Recording Academy on the track “Sweet Honey Buckiin,” which features Shaboozey and is produced by Pharrell.

On the song, she sings: “A-O-T-Y, I ain’t win/ I ain’t stuntin’ ’bout them/ Take that shit on the chin/ Come back and fuck up the pen.”

    Listen below.

Beyoncé’s lyrics echo remarks made by her husband JAY-Z at this year’s Grammys ceremony where he took issue with the organization for never giving his wife Album of the Year.

“We want y’all to get it right,” he said while accepting the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. “We love y’all, we love y’all, we just want y’all to get it right. At least get it close to right.

“Obviously it’s subjective because, you know, it’s music and it’s opinion-based, but some things… I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year!”

He continued: “So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. The most Grammys, never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.

“Some of you are gonna go home tonight and feel like you’ve been robbed. Some of you may get robbed. Some of you don’t belong in the category. Nah, nah, nah. When I get nervous I tell the truth!”

Hov also previously argued that his wife deserved to win Album of the Year for her 2022 effort Renaissance.

“Look what it’s done to the culture,” he said in an interview with TIDAL. “Look how the energy of the world moved. They play her whole album in the club. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that. The whole entire joint — like, everything?! Every remix is amazing. Everyone’s inspired. It has inspired the world. Every remix is better than the other one.

“From anybody, we’re just finding these joints out in the street. Somebody just did a joint over Suga Free the other day — you heard this joint? (JAY pulls out his phone and plays Suga’s ‘I’d Rather Give You My Bitch.’) It’s a West Coast classic. The DJ put Bey’s vocals over this at a party and it went crazy.”

He continued: “It’s inspiring creativity. You know how The Black Album had The Grey Album [Danger Mouse’s 2004 mashup project]? And the one with Radiohead? It was called Jaydiohead [Minty Fresh Beats’ 2009 mashup]. When it just inspires creativity, that’s an album. That has to be Album of the Year. It has to be.”

Despite never winning Album of the Year, Beyoncé has won 32 Grammys, making her the most decorated artist in the show’s history.

    1. Honestly wind your neck in with that nonsense, you have more grammys than anyone and you’re a billionaire. In order to “get it right” they’d have to hand out a few hundred awards to accommodate all the whining, entitled rappers and R&B singers.

      1. I really tried my best to listen objectively because I love everything she does, But I just can’t with this one. So I listened again and Im trying harder to get something from it. NOPE ITS wACK! Im gonna go back to the other albums that I love from her. Sh gonna loose real fans like this I just can’t get into this one, I roll with the Bee Hive but this has No sting. Next!

      1. Good. Duck that country train poppin up lately, everywhere. Listen to dj muggs x mooch ‚roc star’ album instead

    4. it’s a slap in the face to even dare try to call this country music. Why is she rhyming? She isn’t rapper. She can’t hit high notes to save her and the song is utter nonsense. Who swears / rhyme sin a “country” song like this? Its trash and anyone who says otherwise, get your ears checked.

    5. At this point black people make up imaginary ops and victimized situations bc that’s all they have left of a selling point

    6. Nah, this album was a solid 5/10. I just want to make something clear. Just because you have a guitar, doesn’t make you a country star. Barely any country in this album. As fir the grammy, your just mad because you didn’t live up to their expectations. Whether you like it or not, there are better albums than yours. Besides, the grammys doesn’t care about your opinion. They has a vote between best producer of the year, and instead if rightfully giving metro boomin producer of the year for the spider man soundtrack, they have it to taylor swifts producer. Its wack how they barely give out hip hop awards. They listen to the hype, not the tunes.
