Benzino has addressed his tearful appearance on Drink Champs where he discussed his feud with Eminem.
In an Instagram post, the former publisher of The Source magazine acknowledged crying on the show and posted an image titled “reasons why crying is good.”
He wrote in the caption: “I had so much built up anger, frustration and evil built up inside of me…….Ngl, minus the alcohol….I needed that shit…..it really helped.”
Benzino also shared a post from a friend that said: “I see a lot of people laughing at Benzino crying, I don’t find that funny at all. I seen killers get emotional and start breaking down in tears.
“Crying don’t make you weak, crying is just a human emotion, don’t ever get it twisted, a n-gga will cry right before he push ya shit back.”
During his appearance on N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s podcast this past weekend, a clearly intoxicated Benzino began to get visibly emotional when discussing his issues with Eminem.
“I don’t have nothing against Eminem,” he admitted. “He can rap but I care about us more. I don’t want to talk about it no more. My daughter came into this industry figuring, ‘I gotta be cool with Eminem because everybody is against my dad.’”
He continued: “I don’t hate Eminem. I don’t know him to hate him. I don’t hate white people. I’m tired of this shit, man. It’s just too much. I don’t want to be the bad guy. […] Eminem ain’t no bad person. He belongs in Hip Hop. It’s a big racist problem in America right now and Eminem could probably stop half of it.”
Eminem recently rekindled their decades-old beef on the song “Doomsday Pt. 2,” mocked Benzino’s financial woes and physical stature.
Over a sample of his classic hit “Role Model,” he rapped: “Now I got a riddle, one condition, you mustn’t laugh/ What is the opposite of Benzino? A giraffe/ ‘Go at his neck,’ how the fuck is that?/ How can I go at somethin’ he doesn’t have?”
“Arms so short he can’t even touch his hands/ When they’re up above his head doin’ jumpin’ jacks/ Sorry, I don’t mean to upset you, Ben/ When I talk about all the debt you in/ I hear that you been creepin’ on the low/ In them cheap hotels, that they catch you in.”
Benzino later fired back with two diss songs of his own, “Vulturious” and “Rap Elvis.”
I wonder if he would be showing this same level of maturity if he was a better lyricist, and could actually compete vs Em in a battle… That said, as much I don’t really like him or his music, what he said is how grown ups move. Making rap songs about someone’s appearance when you’re over 50 is sad and likely Em doesn’t have anyone in his circle honest and mature enough to say “this looks lame at 51 years old”.
Dude has a beef with Eminem. The beef isn’t centered on whether Eminem “can rap” or not. It appears to be about whether Eminem leveraged his pale advantage to get over while piously claiming the opposite. We do know that Source staffers (ie Rigs Morales) played a key role in the rise of Eminem and became rich rap execs in the process. This seems to be a little before “Benzino” became publicly known. Is it possible he feels Em cut him out of a lucrative agreement? Is this what this is all about?
The beef is centred on Benzino being a disgruntled groupie. Let’s not pretend that nonsense conspiracy he invented actually means something. After 24 years Benzino has never once been able to specify what triggered him into attacking Eminem. He rode Dave Mays and destroyed The Source which was a fantastic representative of hip hop up until that point. Benzino was handing out his own review scores and using several pages every issue to push his albums so he’d be a massive hypocrite if he wants to cry about having unfair advantages over others.
the point is he never said Eminem couldn’t rap. who knows what the rest of it is about I don’t really care. I can see why someone might be triggered if some little white kid they used to see hanging around their office looking for favors is all of a sudden the greatest rapper ever – because a bunch of other white kids say so. it is what it is. Eminem made a couple good albums before he sold out to Elton John.
@pacman – for a several year span in my youth, The Source was basically the hip hop bible. Then they started handing out mics to terrible albums and it all went to shit. It’s kinda like this site….
Trying to save face after making a complete fool of his self. I’m no Em fan but the level of jealousy this fool holds towards him has always made him look very weak and reinforces the theory he has small man syndrome. Grow the fuck up old man
On a serious note, wtf is those growths in the this dudes jaw, is those tumours? Them shits make his head look like a damn peanut
Alcohol plus steroids plus dementia equal benzino
And just in case nobody believed him he showed us all the reasons crying is a good thing. He never knows when to shut up and just let the shit ride out.
I am looking for my job is talking people and make me happy myself and help them I like it lots
Crying is fine, depending on when. If you’re crying because Eminem made fun of you? That’s child tears, not befitting a grown adult.
