Benzino has had a momentary change of heart when it comes to his hatred of Eminem, declaring that there is a place in rap for the Detroit legend.
During an emotional episode of Drink Champs, the Hip Hop mogul started out by doubling down on his past disdain of Em, reiterating his opinion that he won their most recent battle and asking why the Detroit MC had failed to respond to his latest diss.
However a few moments later, a visibly intoxicated Benzino was nearly moved to tears by the effects of the alcohol, and reflected on how his beef with Marshall Mathers escalated so precipitously.
“I don’t have nothing against Eminem,” he began around the 2:35:50 mark. “He can rap but I care about us more. I don’t want to talk about it no more. My daughter came to industry figuring ‘I gotta be cool with Eminem because everybody is against my dad.'”
He continued: “I don’t hate Eminem. I don’t know him to hate him. I don’t hate white people tired of this shit, man. It’s just too much. I don’t want to be the bad guy. […] Eminem ain’t no bad person. He belongs in Hip Hop. It’s a big racist problem in America right now and Eminem could probably stop half of it.”
Benzino also reflected on rumors that he has a particular dislike for white people. At the end of the conversation, Benzino even made an appeal to rap fans everywhere, hoping everyone could unite and beefs could end.
Benzino’s Drink Champs appearance made waves when it was first announced, with people poking fun at his neck.
In a clip that was teased to promote the interview, the former co-owner of The Source went off on those who have been saying he has no neck. Though he didn’t name Eminem in the snippet, the Detroit MC did ridicule the media proprietor’s build just last month.
“I got a fucking neck,” he said while stretching the collar of his shirt down to give everyone a look. “Everybody has a fucking neck. It’s what the fuck the head sits on, you stupid, idiotic motherfucker.
“Shannon Sharpe don’t got a neck. Shannon Sharpe’s neck’s big as me — y’all say nothing to Shannon Sharpe!”
Eminem recently took aim at his adversary of two-plus decades on a new song with Lyrical Lemonade called “Doomsday Pt. 2.” Reigniting his feud with the Boston native after originally beefing with him in the mid ’00s, the self-proclaimed Rap God mocked his rival’s financial woes and physical stature on the joint.
Over a sample of his classic hit “Role Model,” he raps: “Now I got a riddle, one condition, you mustn’t laugh/ What is the opposite of Benzino? A giraffe/ ‘Go at his neck,’ how the fuck is that?/ How can I go at somethin’ he doesn’t have?”
This guy really is all over the place. He’s been bad mouthing Em for twenty years while also saying he “has nothing against him”. At this point it’s a mercy that he isn’t getting a response. Ghostwritten diss tracks, crying in interviews, deadbeat accusations from his own daughter…. This guy just keeps handing himself Ls. What’s crazy is that almost feels bad for the guy, he clearly has some mental problems.
He had a moment of clarity. We’ve all been there. Sometimes our inner demons run our lives. I’m not saying what he did, rapped or talked about, is truly justified, but there’s a moment in people’s lives where they get this clarity, and just give in after a long strenuous period. I’m all for peace in this matter. Benzino knows he did wrong, Em won, now let’s just move along and keep making money. Still waiting on an Em and Lupe collab.
Eminem dissed him first. Rap Elvis was the reply. and the better diss so benzino won. Stans are just delusional and swear eminem is the greatest rapper compared to anyone. sorry but he’s not and benzino is torn apart in the media bc of Eminems status. This publication included, they love eminem and trash anyone is at odds with him.
Before social media and the internet, back in the late 90s/early 00s and earlier, back when rap wasn’t as corporate and more grass-root, The Source Magazine was a central part of HipHop media. The 5 mic rating of albums was a metric of success folks could really brag about it like charting #1 on the Billboards..back when rap was more traditional, culturally accountable and didactive and when commercial rap wasn’t a flooded with so many circus acts. So, seeing this dude all washed up like Suge Knight is hella sad to those of us who are old enough.. hope it ain’t really as sad as it looks.
Lol imagine thinking Benzino won after this. Talk about being delusional.
No he didn’t. Benzino has been dissing Em repeatedly in interviews and the media for twenty years as well as taking occasional shots in songs. Pretty ironic that you’re calling yourself “thetruth” and can’t even get your facts straight. But make like Benzino and keep crying about Stans lol
Backtracking again and crying after some alcohol lol. This old ass mf need to be put in a retirement home, he’s a disgrace.
You’re a disgrace. lol. I can tell you were raised by a mom that didn’t want to raise you as much as your father didn’t want to..But she didn’t want you to feel alone.
Fall back, kick’n a man down is a weak move…
Bury this and move on. Both sides
Zino ain’t lyin though. Black culture is fucked up more than eva!
Zino í actually telling the truth. We black people need to get it together.
Take your meds, bruh. Dude hasn’t even responded yet, and you’re crying.
Lol, this mofo is a crying drunk…
He cried about his enemy in front of the hip hop circuit (including his daughter). Dawg……wtf….i would never touch alcohol again. Now Eminem is gonna remake The Sauce with how it all played out 22 years later. Mutha fucka, if that ain’t the longest diss track ever made lol.
Benzino is nice
Ain’t nothing worse than a drunk. LOL!
EM should get back on that super strong speedball….EM on meth was dope ,,, sober EM is cornball as fuck GTFOH both of these goofies
