Benzino has said that his life would be completely “fucked” if Coi Leray and Chief Keef ever started dating.

The former Source magazine boss made the comments in an interview with The Gauds Show podcast, where he said in general he wouldn’t approve of his daughter dating another rapstar.

“If my daughter brought home Chief Keef, my life is fucked,” Benzino said. “And Chief Keef is one of my favorite young artists, ‘I’m a Gorilla in a zoo’ and all that, but I don’t want my daughter with Chief Keef.”

Benzino was then asked if he’d feel the same way if Coi Leray brought home Kendrick Lamar or J. Cole, and while he didn’t seem keen on the idea of Coi and Kendrick hooking up, he did say he’d be cool with Cole dating his daughter.

“Maybe J. Cole,” he said after a long, thoughtful pause. “You know what? I wasn’t thinking about J. Cole. I could see me and J. Cole kicking it! Coi in there cooking and me and him sitting watching the game. I could see me and J. Cole doing that … J. Cole a good one.”

While Benzino spoke highly of Coi Leray, his relationship with his daughter has been rocky in recent years.

During a heated Twitter rant in March 2021, Coi admitted that she felt “embarassed” to be Benzino’s daughter after he took issue with her name-dropping him on her song “No More Parties.”

“And this is why I NEVER WANTED ANYBODY TO KNOW!!!” Coi wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “I’M EMBARRASSED TO BE YOUR DAUGHTER. I should have been a boy your right cause I would have knocked you the fuck out already. NUMB TO THE PAIN!! I’m hurting right now but it’s all good. Ima be the one to PUT US RIGHT BACK IN THAT MANSION.”

Elsewhere in Benzino’s lengthy sitdown on Ray Daniels’ podcast, the media proprietor admitted that he was the reason André 3000 made his famous speech at the 1995 Source Awards, and owned up to his mistakes.

The speech in question was made after OutKast won the award for Best New Rap Group, which was met with a chorus of boos from the New York audience.

“But it’s like this, though: I’m tired of folks — them closed-minded folks. It’s like we got a demo tape and don’t nobody wanna hear it,” 3 Stacks famously said. “But it’s like this: the South got somethin’ to say. That’s all I got to say.”

“The reason why André 3000 said what he did, I’ma have to tell y’all this story,” Benzino said. “When they was giving OutKast 4.5 mics, I remember, I didn’t understand it. I didn’t understand the music.

“And I was the one who kinda raised some situations up at The Source, I’m gonna admit it. And I was wrong. I think it got to OutKast. And I think that’s why André said what he said. I think that was kinda directed toward me.”
