Baby Keem has shouted out Ms. Lauryn Hill and thanked her for clearing a classic Fugees sample.

The pgLang rapper dropped off the deluxe edition of his debut album The Melodic Blue on Friday (October 28), and on the new song “highway 95,” Keem samples the classic Fugees hit “Killing Me Softly With His Song,” which Ms. Hill presumably owns the rights to.

“Thank u Ms. Hill,” Keem wrote on Twitter.

The Fugees’ 1996 smash hit was itself a cover of Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly With His Song,” which was released in 1973 via Atlantic Records.

The deluxe edition of The Melodic Blue adds seven new tracks, bringing the project’s total runtime up to 80-minutes. The new songs include “Bank Account” featuring Lil Uzi Vert and “Killstreaks” featuring Don Toliver and PinkPantheress.

Keem announced the revamped project on Thursday night (October 27), with his blood cousin Kendrick Lamar posing a question about whether he’d get to hear the track called “Life of Pain” – which is part of the updated edition.

“I get to hear life of pain again??” Kung Fu Kenny wrote with a kissing and heart emoji.

The original Melodic Blue debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, moving an estimated 53,000 album-equivalent units earned. The single “Family Ties,” which features K. Dot, even won Keem his first Grammy for Best Rap Performance. The project was certified gold in April by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Meanwhile, Keem was also recently spotted hanging out with Kid Cudi for the former’s 22nd birthday while the pair enjoyed Kendrick Lamar’s Big Steppers Tour performance.

It was the first time Cudi had the chance to take in The Big Steppers Tour and the Ohio native gave his stamp of approval to the performance.

“Kendrick and Keem did a hell of a job,” Cudi wrote on Twitter. “Really fuckin great show.”
