At Sunday night’s BET Awards, the Young Money camp gave a brief interview with Shade 45’s Angela Yee. Birdman shared his excitement for Drake’s success with his debut album Thank Me Later.
“It’s been a great week for us,” he said. “For Hip Hop and for Young Money.”
The YM members gave a quick rundown of upcoming projects and current releases. Bow Wow said that fans will watch him in theaters before the release of his album. “I’ve got my brand new movie coming out first. That’s what we’re working on. ‘Lottery Ticket,’ that’s August 20th with myself, Ice Cube, Charlie Murphy, the list goes on and on.”
Baby also mentioned Tyga, Nicki Minaj, Twist, Gudda Gudda, and almost all other members as gearing up to release solo albums, but did not mention Jae Millz, who is expected to release an album in 2011.
According to Baby, Young Money albums will drop in this order:
Kevin Rudolf
Bow Wow
Baby
Tyga
Nicki Minaj

Mack Maine
Lil Wayne
Father-Son Album (Lil Wayne and Baby)

I don’t support CM/YM because I feel they are a Pop label branded as urban music with no real hiphop music to be seen, at least not anymore. If they release 3/4ths of that list in 2010 then they will be the most successful/lucrative Label ever. They just pretend Wayne isn’t in jail and the Carter4 is right around the corner and their supporters are to dumb to even notice. Christ the game is unbalanced now but Baby might be capitalizing off they’re momentum like no music exec has ever done. When you can put out bad music and the kids buy it anyway that allows you the freedom to pump out releases at a rate that the competition can’t compete with.
I agree, the amount of releases on the old “ride the wave” method is staggering and horrible all at the same time. Its impressive like a tsunami and just as destructive. Shit reminds me of another N.O faction that was putting out releases at a crazy clip. No Limit put out shit every other week at one point between 95-98. The tank couldn’t be stopped. Hip hop is going to probably need life support before Christmas

Well it looks like cash money/young money are having a successful year(in this bad climate for the music industry). They have 3 gold albums (thus far) with the we are young money compilation, wayne’s rebirth, and drake’s album. I can’t really think of any other rap label doing that these days. As far as quality in the music, that is a different story with the exception of drake’s album. So i wouldn’t be surprised if baby does release all of the aforementioned albums;He is going to capitalize on the momentum they have at the moment.
