B.A.M. & Ric Rude Revive “The New Golden Era”

Silence for the golden era!” bellows Chubb Rock, featured on the track “Bringing it Back” of The B.A.M. & Ric Rude Project, The New Golden Era album, which channels the days of house parties, hi-top fades, Pro-Keds, and Kangols. Signed to Soulspazm, lyrical artist B.A.M. (Brilliance Attracts Millions) and producer Ric Rude aim to breathe new life into the essence of Hip Hop. With featured artists such as Keith Murray [click to read], Chubb Rock, Tragedy Khadafi [click to read] and Infamous Mobb, the realness of The B.A.M. & Ric Rude Project is not only implied, it’s certified.

While The New Golden Era is a recent endeavor that started up in 2008, the foundation for this album began back in 1999. It was then that Ric Rude and B.A.M. met, connecting through their love of music. Vibing off of Ric’s tracks, B.A.M. knew that the chemistry was there,  “Everything I was hearing from this brother was crack, and I was like yo, we definitely gotta put an album together,” the emcee told HipHopDX last week. The outcome of their shared passion has been well worth the wait.

Conjuring up memories of the old school days of Hip Hop, this album seeks to fill the void that exists within current Hip Hop. “The golden era from ‘88, ’89, 92, ’93, its bringing that message forth in the present time, because you know in the game right now, we all know there’s something missing…as far as that substance,” explained B.A.M. Paying tribute to Hip Hop legends, while bringing newer artists to light, is the undercurrent of this album.

Joining together the past and the present, The New Golden Era earns its title by bridging the gap between the new and old – a rejuvenation of the glory days. B.A.M. admitted, “I’m trying to bring excitement to the game, something a little bit different.”

Hitting the iTunes Top 100 HipHop Album list during its first week, the B.A.M. & Ric Rude Project: The New Golden Era debuted on September 1st, 2009. Although this is the first project put out by B.A.M. & Ric Rude, it promises not to be the last. B.A.M. revealed to DX, “It’s gonna take more than one joint to really move Hip Hop back into the perspective where it’s supposed to be.

The New Golden Era is available digitally now, through Soulspazm Records.
