Known for his post at Atlanta, Georgia’s V103 radio station, Greg Street has been a pillar of the southern Hip Hop community for well over a decade. This week it was announced that Street has contributed $10,000 to the literacy program known as We Need 2 Read.
This will be Greg Street’s first year participating in the contest (which has been around for 13 years), where by a student from participating schools that reads the most books and completes the corresponding book reports will receive a NBA Elite Playstation 3, as well as a plasma TV. The student’s school will also receive $10,000 in scholarship money, which will go towards encouraging literacy.
While his sophomore album on Interscope Records has been shelved for over a year, Greg Street has produced for the likes of Big Tymers and Soulja Boy. Previously, Street released his Six O’Clock, Vol. 1 compilation on Slip-N-Slide Records.
