Ashanti has suggested that she wants even more children with Nelly ahead of the impending arrival of their second baby together.
Speaking to E! News on the red carpet at the 2025 iHeartRadio Awards, the couple were asked if they had any plans to continue growing their family, to which Ashanti replied: “Let’s go!”

The R&B singer added: “Looking at my baby’s face, it’s just like, ‘Oh, one or two more!'”
Despite Ashanti’s enthusiasm, Nelly was more conservative as he joked about having the opposite reaction to the prospect of more kids with his wife.
The couple welcomed their first child in July 2024, months after secretly getting married.
Ashanti later explained that Nelly was responsible for naming their son Kareem Kenkaide Hayes.

“His dad named him with a lot of pride,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “We were going back and forth for a long time on his name and he was very adamant. He was like, ‘This is what I want! I love this!’
“And I thought it was just so amazing and so thoughtful and so sweet because Kenkaide is my dad’s name and obviously my dad has only girls. So Nelly was just like, ‘I think that will be really, really dope.’ And this was all his idea.”
She also explained the meaning behind the name, saying: “Kareem means generous, kind, noble, dignified, bountiful and just having dignity. So I was like, ‘That’s so cute!’”
It was reported last November that the “Body On Me” collaborators were expecting their second child together.

It’s unclear how far along Ashanti is, although the 44-year-old singer has been seen sporting a noticeably pregnant belly in recent months.
The couple’s growing family, as well as their marriage, will also be the subject of an upcoming docuseries for Peacock.
