Following the release of her new single “The Woman You Love” featuring Busta Rhymes, Ashanti has announced the launch of her label Written Entertainment and release of a new album through eOne Music.
The former Murder Inc. songstress, who last released her fourth album The Declaration in 2008, has made her latest single, produced by Jerry Wonda, available on iTunes. In a press release, Ashanti said that her partnership with eOne was a natural fit.
“I’m so excited to have my own record label, Written Entertainment. With eOne as my distributor, I feel that their innovative and ambitious approach to the music industry, really gives my label a worldwide presence,” she said. “They have the top radio people in the business and are hungry to win! The more I learned the business the more I knew this is what I wanted. Ownership is so important. As a business woman this was a great move for me!”
Ashanti’s untitled fifth album is due in 2012.

cool. ashanti voice has gotten alot better too. the female commercial r&b game islittered with girls who wanna be pop stars (rihanna, kelly rowland, beyonce, alicia)so hopfully ahsanti can bring some hits that dont sound liek they are out the disco.
You think Alicia Key’s wants to be a pop star? Out of all the women you listed, Alicia’s voice has the most soul power. She is far from pop
Alicia Keys is a wanna be pop star now?
My goodness you’re a dumb bitch.
Ashanti’s back with an LP. Yeah ok. Hope she does porn truthfully.
I agree with the second anon above me. Why of all people would you list Alicia Keys, she is not pop, nor does she try to be. She has a soulful voice and doesn’t try to be anything but herself. She is in her own lane. It just happens that everyone likes her music including folks in or who like other genres. She’s got a wide appeal, but when you hear the voice it has so much soul.
If you ask some artists they will tell you that they do not categorize their music as this that or the other because it puts you in a box. They just make music period and it’s others who are quick to categorize everything, so you shouldn’t assume folks are trying to be anything.
As for Ashanti she mos def stepped her game up a lot over the years when it comes to those vocals, and now she’s becoming more of a business woman and I respect that. Hope she continues doing her thing.
I respect it. Ashanti trying to make her own money, that’s what’s up. And the first single with Busta sounded real solid.
