Just days after ASAP Rocky released his mixtape LoveLiveA$AP 
, the New York newcomer set out for Drake’s “Club Paradise Tour,” opening with fellow fresh face Kendrick Lamar. In an interview with Good Fella Media, Rocky spoke candidly about how he feels about today’s New York music scene.
“I just don’t like modern New York Hip Hop,” he said. “I liked Dipset, I liked G-Unit–I liked all that shit in [that] era. I’m just saying now, today, I don’t really fuck with a lot of New York rappers. There’s a few that I think is cool but that’s about it. Not to say I don’t fuck with it but I choose not to listen to it on my own time.”
While his love for modern New York rappers is scant, he holds respect for new artists like Kendrick Lamar and Odd Future.
“I fuck with everybody who’s doing they thing. I’m talking about new, up-and-coming artists,” he said. “When you look at me you think of niggas like Kendrick ’cause we all young, we all comin’ up. You think of Odd Future and all that other shit because everybody’s growing up.”
The “Club Paradise Tour” comes to an end on November 20 in North Carolina.

To the extent that there really aren’t that many new now NY rappers, why even make that statement. Why ruffle feathers of people you don’t even mean to offend and poop on the whole city. I’m sure he is not directing that at say a Joel Ortiz, that someone else mentioned. But J.O is gonna read that and take it personal. Cats need to learn how to be more diplomatic. take that into consideration as well as the fact that new artists have to grind twice as hard as established artists because their spot isnt secure yet. Theyre still in the phase of being here today but possibly being forgot about in a year so their focus isnt really on other artists
