André 3000 has been photographed all over the world playing flute — a hobby that he has turned into an album. But there’s another pastime he’s picked up that in turn got adopted by his OutKast partner Big Boi.

In a new interview on the Questlove Supreme podcast, André responded to a “crazy rumor” that Dre was extremely into fishing.

Dre denied that, but said that he had gone on deep sea fishing expeditions with his family, and had really enjoyed it.

I invited Big Boi on a couple of them and Big Boi, he’s been running with it,” he continued. “Big Boi goes out and deep sea fishes all the time.”

André’s interview on QLS went live shortly after the release of his solo album New Blue Sun.

The lack of rapping on the instrumental project, on which André plays a number of wind instruments, had some fans angry — a reaction that upset the OutKast member.

During an interview with CBS Mornings, André 3000 shared his thoughts on the reactions to New Blue Sun, while sympathizing with people’s expectations.

“Even on the artwork it says, ‘No bars,’ so if you’re disappointed, man, I don’t know what else I could do,” he said. “I don’t like that people are upset a little bit about it.

“If I were waiting for a thing for 17 years, a certain thing that I’m looking for and, something else shows up, I’d probably be upset too. To be a rapper, you gotta be rapping. I haven’t been rapping, like I don’t hang around the studio.”

He added: “I don’t sit and try to rap every day like when I was younger, and that’s all I did. I miss those times a lot, but life changes, life moves on.”
