Alisson Shore returns with an ode to his R&B heroes in his latest single “BABALIK BA” (Coming Back).
Accompanied by a 2000s R&B-inspired visual directed by Earl Jan Aloro, the Filipino singer-songwriter and producer channels fashion, choreography, technology, and music video narratives from the early aughts.
The Earl Jan Aloro-directed video follows Alisson Shore daydreaming about his female model partner, as he sings openly about being in a tricky position in his relationship, “not knowing if there is still someone coming back,” according to a press release.
Alisson Shore credits Ne-Yo, Keith Sweat, and Nelly as inspirations for the track. He shared on Instagram a snap of him working the “R&B pose,” his early memories of music, recalling how his mother used to listen to “A House is not a Home” by Luther Vandross on the radio, and how it led him to discover more R&B artists.
He wrote in Tagalog, “I didn’t understand the music [of Vandross], but I was mesmerized by the melody and the emotion invoked by the track.”
“BABALIK BA” follows last month’s “MANATILI.”
