Al Sharpton takes on “hip hop-ocrites”

The good Rev. Al Sharpton is going hard against hip hop artists – rappers, producers and anyone who opposes his ban on offensive lyrics, according to the NY Daily News.

“Many of these rappers did not even come out of the ‘hood. They’re just visiting the ‘hood to sell records,” said Sharpton during his National Action Network Conference yesterday.

“They’re calling people in the ‘hood ‘ho’s’ and ‘bitches’ … and they’re saying ‘yes ma’am’ to the people in the Hamptons.”

“We want to stop misogynistic records, misogynistic references…People have a right to free speech. We also have a
right to free speech – to say we don’t like it.”
    said Sharpton.

As previously reported, Sharpton rescinded an award scheduled to go to Def Jam Chairman LA Reid, in order to avoid a conlict of interest.
