A$AP Rocky Explains Appealing To Non-Rap Fans & Talks “LongLiveA$AP” Album

A$AP Rocky has already done some genre-hopping when he appeared in Lana Del Rey’s video for “National Anthem.” While at the 2012 Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, Illinois, the New York emcee gave his take on why fans of genres other than Hip Hop take to his music.

“I got supporters from all demographics,” said Rocky in an interview with Billboard. “There are people that don’t fuck with Rap but fuck with A$AP, just because I give them a feeling that they can’t explain. I’m used to this happening – even when it’s not at one of these festivals, my crowd is real diverse. If you’ve ever been to one of my shows, you’d be like, ‘What the fuck did I just step into?'”

Rocky’s major label debut, LongLiveA$AP, is due in September, and he says that a record with his A$AP Mob crew will make its way to fans soon. Though no date was specified, Rocky said it would be available “in two weeks.”

A$AP Rocky also addressed his approach to music and the music industry. “Putting out that motherfucking tastemaker music that we do, we change the sound of mainstream,” he explained. “The mainstream isn’t gonna be that bullshit that you hear on the radio all day. The mainstream’s gonna be that A$AP — we’re gonna change the whole world with this shit. I have a dream! I’m the trill Martin Luther King, straight up.”

    1. thought nigga was nice till i found out he a soulja boy ass nigga just hoping around styles and looks to what is dope at the moment this nigga is not trill and kncka let niggas know how he was and now this nigga got mad hate in miami 2 fuckin wit raider klan he shouldnt of let it get to his head

    2. This little dude seems to think he’s a lot bigger then he actually is…I guess that’s why he barely puts out any music or promotes himself. He’s about to get a rude awakening in September when the album sells 5000 copies.

      1. blame it on the few dickriders he might have

this apply to any rapper though. as soon as someone got a few fans, he cannot feel himself anymore. asap rocky is one of this kind

    3. Y’all niggas is hating and mad that he probably fucked ur bitch b4 ur wedding! ASAP all day! #harlem

    4. This guy is hilarious…but his crash and burn career will be much funnier

“I’m the trill Martin Luther King, straight up”…fuck outta here with that shit

    5. He ain’t appeal to real hip hop heads. Corny ass rappers these days with gimmicks. I’m done wit this bullshit

    6. Yo you are all crazy, yo must not have been keepin up withhis music, he definiely is changing the sound up and watch, hes gona be the next lil wayne makin features on every track

    7. only reason they’re into you is because of your production…without the beats you sound like every other nigga out

    8. This nigga fucking stupid lol. No ASAP you are not “changing” the game. Your music sounds like a failed attempt at southern rap.

I swear these US niggas know nothing.

    9. I liked the mixtape (mostly cause of the production) and Goldie is dope. He’s not the most lyrical nigga in the game but he got swag and a good ear for beats. that’s more than most of these rappers ever have. I’m one of those people that think the beat and the general feel of the song is more important than the lyrics. so if the singles/leaks/snippets/whatevers don’t dissappoint, I’ll probably be bying his shit. and I’m looking forward to the crew mixtape, I really wanna hear more from Ty Beats and Nast.
