A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Calls Out Rappers For Biting His Style

Artists copying popular styles is no new phenomenon, but A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie thinks it’s getting out of hand. The Atlantic Records rapper expressed his frustration with his peers via Twitter on Saturday (February 8), chastising them for using his musical blueprint.

“Iight bet. Keep on tryna sound like me without showing love and ima start to sue ya mf’s,” he wrote. “Fr tho this shit is getting outta hand I’m not tryna knock nobody hustle I’m just getting sick of the craft ya bringing to the table. Making this shit boring.”

A Boogie didn’t call out any specific artists, but the proliferation of melodic styles in Hip Hop casts a wide net in terms of potential offenders. One could argue his complaint doesn’t have much merit though considering he’s not the originator of the style either.

The Bronx-bred artist has used the formula effectively in his career though, earning his first No. 1 album last year. A Boogie is currently prepping for the release of his next LP, Artist 2.0, which he’s hinted will drop on Valentine’s Day (February 14).

    1. Not too familiar with dudes music, but from the stuff I heard he does a sing/rap hybrid which is done by 50% of rappers today. Dude is dope, but his style has been done already for decades now by many rappers that sing when they rap (Bone Thugs, Ja Rule, Drake, Lil Wayne, Kanye). I’ll chalk it up to dude being a part of this generation and not knowing the genres history. But yeah, everybody does it now, it’s not new, it’ll be done long after. RIP originality.

    2. Dude ain’t got my ears, I don’t care if he can boogie with a hoodie, These names is shameful, no thought into it at all

      1. Naw Boogie is a rapper from Compton is actually good…you saw A Boogie wit a Hoodie from NYC who sounds like a male Dej Loaf clone mixed with Max B and Roscoe Dash but unfortunately he still manages to suck a dump truck amount of ass…see there’s a difference there…. That and he was rolling deep with SnitchNine a lil bit ago…so enough said on credibility on that note lol

    3. All this kids think they are original everyone done copied this drill music gang music from chicago. a boogie didn’t originate anything. Lil durk been singing autotune over trap long ago. same with tory lanez. its hard to tell because all these kids sound the same now.

    4. When you have the same sound as your predecessors you cant call out anyone for taking your sound. You sound like all the other clowns. Unfortunately, New York hip hop fell off and we are relying on Griselda (minus westside gunn, dude is trash) and that’s about it to bring it back. A Boogie is a lost cause, he’s among the trash now.

    5. WHOOOOO?? WHO is stealing this flow that has been done several times.. Drake should be charging ALL OF YALL for using his style and we should charge him for making hip hop soft to the point where everyone has to try to sing or sing rap. AWFUL

    6. Personally ain’t nobody out here fuckin wit A boogie right now ppl out talkin shit that aint on his level and not Makin shit compared to him talk shit wen u drop y’all music until then join the rest the niggas bitin his shit envious ass mtfs bet y’all all watch love n hip hop episodes clowns
