A few months ago a tracklisting surfaced for the “8 Mile” soundtrack, it basically consisted of songs by Aftermath/Shady Records artists. The official soundtrack listing is now out and it features some changes. Impressive changes. In addition to Shady Records soldiers Obie Trice, 50 Cent and D-12, the soundtrack will feature legends like Rakim, Gangstarr, Jay-Z, and Nas. The lead single is the opening track, “Lose Yourself.” The incredible song features Eminem rapping as his “8 Mile” character, Rabbit.
Em had this to say in a statement, “the “8 Mile” soundtrack was different because it forced me to step into Rabbit, the character I play in the film, and write from his point of view. It was a challenge. Also, the project afforded me the opportunity to not only make an album with a wish list of some of my favorite artists, but to showcase what we have coming on Shady Records.”
