50 Cent has blasted the mooted idea to “defund the police”, a policy supported by prospective New York mayor, Zohran Mamdani.
The Democratic candidate for the post has publicly expressed support for law enforcement reform to a divisive reaction.
One person who is firmly opposed to the idea is 50 Cent despite his own previously run-ins with the cops of New York City.
In an Instagram post, 50 wrote: “New York turns into Gotham city, if you defund the police. Trust me on this one,that’s not a good idea buddy.”
In a follow-up post, 50 mocked up an A.I. image of an apocalyptic New York and wrote: “Escape from New York coming If you’re not careful .”
50 had previously called out Mamdani’s tax plans which would include a 2% tax increase for New York’s wealthiest citizens.
On Instagram, 50 posted a clip of the Democrat candidate for mayor being interviewed on The Breakfast Club where he discussed his tax policies.
Mamdani says: “What I’ve proposed is we raise $10 billion to pay for our entire economic agenda and start to Trump proof our city because we know he’ll use federal funding as leverage over this city. And we will do so in two key ways. The first is to match the state’s top corporate tax rate to that of New Jersey. We are at 7.25%, they are at 11.5%. Corporations can pay it over there, they can pay it over here. And the beauty of it is it doesn’t just apply to corporations headquartered in New York City, wherever you are headquartered, as long as you are doing business in the state of New York, you are liable for that corporate tax.
“The second is taxing the top 1% of New Yorkers. We’re talking about people who make $1 million a year or more, taxing them by a flat 2% tax rate increase. I know 50 Cent is listening, he’s not going to be very happy about this, he tends to not like this tax policy but I want to be very clear, this is about $20,000 a year.”
50 then said in the caption: “Where did he come from whose friend is this? I’m not feeling this plan no. I will give him $258,750 and a first class one way ticket away from NY. I’m telling Trump what he said too !”

Defunding the police IS a stupid idea. Anyone that thinks otherwise is a top shelf moron. If anything maybe put more funds into training, recruitment and mental health care. Then you’ll have a higher tier of policing. Or maybe more mostly peaceful protests where you smash up your neighbour’s shop while obliviously yelling “black lives matter” will fix everything.
Yeah, because the police keep us so safe in between the beatings. No one is proposing getting rid of police, but it’s obvious a lot of these situations call for a skill set that policemen don’t possess like the high person on substances or the autistic person who won’t listen to directions.
