2Pac‘s murder suspect, Duane “Keefe D” Davis, is looking to postpone his murder trial before it starts next month, as he feels he has new proof that he’s innocent.

According to a report from Las Vegas KSNV, Keefe’s legal team filed a motion to postpone the March 2025 trial on Friday (February 14), stating they have new testimony from a private investigator that proves he wasn’t even in Las Vegas at the time of Pac’s death in September 1996.

“This case involves decades-old allegations, and with every new piece of evidence, it becomes increasingly clear that critical facts have yet to be fully examined,” the docs read.

His legal team also alleges that there is new evidence that could point to a whole different suspect, and that it needs to be properly investigated before a trial could begin.

A hearing has been set for Tuesday (February 18) for a judge to make a decision.

Keefe D has been in police custody since September 2023 when he was charged with orchestrating the murder of 2Pac, which marked the first arrest in the decades-old case.

He recently attempted to get the murder charge dismissed, claiming that he had previously agreed an immunity deal with law enforcement.

The ex-gang leader told detectives in 2008 that he was involved in Pac’s murder on the Las Vegas strip shortly after a Mike Tyson fight.

His lawyers attempted to argue that he made this admission as part of a proffer agreement, which means anything he said could not be used against him in court, and that this agreement should still stand.

Prosecutors denied that there was any evidence of such an agreement, with the judge ruling in their favor.

After his motion to dismiss the charge was rejected, Keefe D’s lawyer said to the press: “There’s no evidence that he was involved [in ‘Pac’s murder]. He did what Detective [Greg] Kading did: He put out a book, and he made money. Even the state’s main investigation that testified at the grand jury said this is all about making money.”

Keefe wrote about 2Pac’s murder in his 2019 book Compton Street Legend, though his attorneys later claimed that prosecutors “did not delineate which parts of the book, if any, were written by Duane” as opposed to his co-author.

They also said that the various statements he has made regarding 2Pac’s murder were just for “entertainment purposes.”
