11-Year-Old Alaya High Becomes Youngest Female Rapper To Sign With Major Label

Aspiring rapper Alaya High just became the youngest female rapper to sign with a major record label.

On Wednesday (August 1), Lay Lay — as she is also called — announced the news on Instagram and disclosed she’d signed a contract with Empire.

“It’s official!!! I am the YOUNGEST FEMALE RAP ARTIST to sign a record deal,” the caption read. “Look out for my first single ‘Go Lay Lay Go’ ALBUM ON THE WAY!!!”

Lay Lay, who has amassed over 229,000 Instagram followers (and counting), first started garnering attention in May when her freestyle over BlocBoy JB’s “Shoot” went viral on Twitter. She posts a new freestyle almost every Friday during what she calls “Freestyle Friday.”

The Houston native now resides in Atlanta, where she’s focused on her burgeoning career. Alongside the label announcement, she revealed she’s dropping a new single “Go Lay Lay Go” soon and said she has an album on the way.

      1. Relax fam…Texas Longhorns. She’s from Texas. Though I understand what you’re talking about not everyone is throwing up devil horns. Kids like their sports teams.

      2. I am SO terrified! Earth is being destroyed, species eliminated, and black folks killed on the streets…but what’s really scary is devil horns

    1. She won’t be around for long… Like most child singers/rappers give it a while and they all turn into a where are they now? Question.
