What If Patti Cake$ Battled Rap Legends Like Eminem, Redman & Kendrick Lamar?

After receiving rave reviews at this year’s past Sundance Festival (which culminated into a $10 million deal), Patti Cake$, the latest film to tackle the heart-tugging mantra of a coming-of-age Hip Hop pipe-dream-to-reality drama, is set to be released tomorrow, August 18.

Directed by Geremy Jasper, the film chronicles Australian newcomer Danielle MacDonald as the Jersey girl titular character who has aspirations of using her lyrical chops to make a better life for herself and those around her.

In a recent interview with HipHopDX via #DXLive, tenured lyricist Skyzoo explained how he help give the rap scenes identity by standing is as her rap coach.

We offered Jasper and two of the cast’s starring members, Siddharth Dhananjay and Mamoudou Athie the same opportunity when they stepped into the DXHQ to offer “Killa P” pointers on how to “eat” some Hip Hop’s most legendary and prominent MCs, such as JAY-Z, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar in a rap battle.

The commentary that ensues is nothing short of entertaining, just as Patti Cake$ is on the silver screen.

  1. HAHA… Thank you HHDX for letting these stans know that Jay Z is the GOAT and released the best album of the year! It took Jay Z 30 minutes of regurgitating content that others have done better, in the past 30 years, in a spoken word flow and he still killed all these 20 year old lames. Oh look Nas didn’t get a GOAT cupcake, poor Nas broke ass could use a cupcake.
