In case you didn’t know so, FOX Searchlight has a critically acclaimed Hip Hop dramedy on their hands in the form of Patti Cake$. The film chronicles the journey of an aspiring female rapper from New Jersey — who just happens to be white and overweight but don’t pull out your corny penalty flags just yet. The movie has enamored praise from the likes of TIME, Hollywood Reporter and The New York Times and was a hit at SXSW and Sundance, amongst other film festival showings.
In a new promotional clip directed by Ruff Mercy (Run the Jewels’ “Run the Jewels,” Disclosure’s “F for You,” Lily Allen’s “Sheezus,” etc.), Patti Cake$ breakout star Danielle MacDonald’s character, “Killa P” proves she wants to blow up without going pop with a raw freestyle highlighted in living color like a Wayans.
