In The past few years we have seen the emergence of Eminem and D12 and Nelly and The St. Lunatics. So what makes Ludacris think that his squad can have more success than the previously mentioned crews? Confidence…pure uncut and raw confidence.

Although all of the DTP camp were in various groups before becoming part of DTP, we were first introduced to DTP as a group on Luda’s debut Back for the First Time. Shawna definitely sprayed feminine gems all over “What’s Your Fantasy.” Shawna also had a stint in the group “Infamous Syndicate” on Relativity records a few years back. I-20
(the I is for Infamous) also hit up “Catch Up” on the same album. Lil Fate and Titty Boy round the group off. The latter says he received his name simply because he was a spoiled mama’s boy. More recently the DTP unit has been heard in the form of I-20 on the smash “Move Bitch.” Now the time has come for the crew to get out there as a family and show their asses. The first single off of the forthcoming Def Jam South release Golden Grain is “Growing Pains.” The joint is a remix of a song of the same title on Luda’s sophomore release Word of Mouf. It’s a nicely spit testament to how life was back in the days. The sample used for the track is a creamy smooth guitar riff and hook taken from the Staple Singers’ classic, “Let’s Do It Again.” The second joint to drop will be “Break Somethin’.” The title should be self explanatory. You figure it out.

I caught up with Titty Boy and we milked out some thoughts one another about everything from being humble to being hungry. When asked about the success they have seen so far under the arms of Cris, Titty says, “The goal was to just to get in the game, we wanted to travel to the best places and drink the best and smoke the best and that’s what we been doin’. It was much easier comin’ into the game behind Cris but we so confident that we playin’ all over the court. Our whole vibe can go hard. We just feel that our confidence is high.”

It’s funny how every squad seems to be a replica of their frontman, but with DTP it seems that the whole camp has got something to say and they plan to say it differently. Titty states “We just like an expansion of Cris but our music is like therapy. You gon’ get Aggressiveness from I-20, Lil Fate be tryin’ to snatch ya girl, and Shawna is definitely writin’ all her own rhymes. We just like another page to this book.”

Well, while the book is open what else is in store for the readers of the life and times of DTP? “Well, we got commercials coming up and Cris is doin’ the movie thing right now. We not cocky but we confident. We tryin’ to break down the barrier and bring somethin’ new to the game. Our motto is live like their ain’t no tomorrow and that’s what we do. It was easier comin’ in the game with Cris who had 6 million in the hole. We ain’t really gotta listen to nobody, they just tellin’ us do you.” DTP definitely have a perk that most artists only dream of. (and) If the front man, (such as) Luda and head of Def Jam South, Scarface, mold them correctly for this business, then as they say the rest should be history.

So how do the DTP kats want to be remembered in this game when the smoke clears? Titty finalizes the conversation by saying, “You know, we were already recording solo joints when we came together to do DTP, so we a family. We want people to know that we tryin’ to stay humble and stay away from all the backstabbing and dishonesty and stay as one. We also want ’em to know that we can come into the game and make an impact. Twenty years from now I’m a still be about my hustle and my family but we want people to know that the scriptures that we kickin’ is real.” Real indeed.
