Filipino rapper kiyo returns with a brand new single, “glasshouse.” He announced the new release last October 17, with the track and music video going live today (October 19). The visual shows footage of the Pinoy rapper during his Singapore trip last month to perform at ASEAN Music Showcase Festival.

Kiyo shared with HipHopDX Asia in Singapore that he specifically wrote a song to mark his first overseas performance, as well as shot a music video to memorialize the experience.

“Glasshouse” is a soft departure from the signature laidback, lo-fi sound that defined his debut album, HARANASA. The track features a more hi-hat-driven percussion beat and autotune vocals, while still maintaining the intimacy in his lyrics that listeners resonate with.

In our exclusive interview with kiyo at the recently concluded ASEAN Music Showcase Festival, the rapper shares, “I’ve been making different genres ever since. So I’m not staying in one lane. I think I told myself that I wanted to be in the gray lines and I wanted to build bridges. My style, I developed it to be more versatile and to widen my range. That’s one thing that I did—I made music out of my comfort zone and now we’re here.”
