By now, you should have a better idea of what a 2021 HipHopDX Rising Star is – but if not, allow DX to define it for you again:

A Rising Star is a burgeoning talent DX pinpoints within the year before or after their initial introduction and rollout of new rap music. These are the artists we feel have the ideal total package in terms of their musical sound, stage presence and genuine personalities.

As 2021 HipHopDX Rising Star Foogiano remains incarcerated at this time, the remaining 9 Rising Stars have continued to pull their weight. 42 Dugg, Flo Milli, DDG, Toosii, Sheff G, Sleepy Hallow, Blxst, Yung Bleu and Morray have continued to drop charted projects, major festival and tour dates, and features with some of the most influential artists in Rap & R&B of today.

This is an exciting week as Rising Stars DDG and Sheff G put out new videos for their fans to watch – as Yung Bleu gave back to the “Baddest” ladies with some pampering.

At this point, there isn’t much that 2021 HipHopDX Rising Star DDG hasn’t done. From successful YouTuber to budding rapper, to boxing champion – if the saying, “a man of many hats” was a person, it would be DDG.

This week the Pontiac, Michigan-bred rapper dropped a Martial Arts-infused music video to compliment is latest single “No Kizzy” which is another word forno cap, featuring Paidway T.O.

The @DevIsLit-produced track was shot and directed by @LewisYouNasty in Los Angeles and features scenes of DDG in legendary 1985 film The Last Dragon-inspired attire, as he busts a few Karate moves on a walkway. The scenes cut in and out of DDG and Paidway T.O. working at the star-spotted soul food joint Hoodbaby Soulfood, which is located in Chatsworth, CA., as the pair exchange verses about never falling in love again and focusing on the money, throughout the song.

DDG starts with, “Don’t do relations, all these n-ggas want to be my friend, ’cause they see I made it. Last week I fucked his hoe, and I won’t say shit, I don’t fall in love no more, ’cause all these bitches basic.” Paidway T.O. finishes with, “Pop me a Perc and I seal the deal, stack up the money and stash a mil’. When I hold the Glock, I shoot to kill, I hit the lick and got out of there.”

On another note, 2021 HipHopDX Rising Star Sheff G started off this year on the quieter side due to reasons in which he hasn’t really spoken on. However, on Wednesday (June 30) Sheff delivered on his promise with his new music video for “Start Some Shyt.”
