Although the infamous holiday 4/20 came and went this week, surprisingly many of the 2021 HipHopDX‘s Rising Stars didn’t bother to release any singles on that day. However, a few days after the “weed-lover” celebration, a few of DX‘s Rising Stars dropped new music and live-performances to look forward to.

Congratulations are in order for 9 out of 10 of the Rising Stars as Rolling Loud announced Miami’s lineup taking place July 23-25th, 2021. In the midst of all this excitement to go back outside, one of the Rising Stars did crazy numbers this week on YouTube, as two other Rising Stars focused on marketing their newest music: one sat with Genius, as the other dropped a new visual.

The Modern Day Love Song “You’re Mines Still” Just hit 100 Million Views on YouTube

On Thursday (April 22), 2021 HipHopDX Rising Star Yung Bleu took a screenshot of his latest accomplishment: 100 million views on his 2020 single “You’re Mines Still,” and threw it on his Gram!

Backed by Louisiana legend Boosie Badazz and October’s Very Own Drake early on, Yung Bleu has grown his Instagram following from a few thousands, to 1.2 million in just a span of 9 years. The Drizzy-remixed single helped Bleu lock-in No. 32 on Billboard Hot 100, as well as garner 3.8 million monthly Spotify listeners.

As if the song isn’t hot enough already, it continues to receive appreciation from other artists. Recently, Chloe Bailey from Chloe x Halle jumped on the track via TikTok, remixing it to “You’re Not Mine Still.”

Blxst Visited Genius This Week To Set The Record Straight With Single, “Overrated”

2021 HipHopDX Rising Star Blxst had a productive week as Rolling Loud announced his spot on this year’s line up in Miami, he also flicked it up with Rick Ross in the 305 during a studio session, and even sat down with Genius to break down the lyrics in his popular single “Overrated.”

During his interview with Genius he went line-for-line giving us more insight into where the inspiration for the track came from. In simple words, Blxst gave plenty of credit to social media for shortening everyone’s attention span, causing love to become overrated. “One of the reasons why I say love is overrated  is just because I feel like we live in a time of social media where everybody’s attention span is solely running on fumes,” he told Genius. “To me, I’d rather just have loyalty, which is an action for me. Loyalty is just basically speaking on what you gonna do, and being a man or woman of your word.”

Blxst’s modernized update of 90s R&B sensation Donnell Jones’ single “This Way” helped push his debut album No Love Lost to No. 14 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums Chart back in February.

Foogiano Gives More Details To His Plan With Sequel “The Plan Pt. 2”

2021 HipHopDX Rising Star Foogiano dropped a new visual on Thursday (April 22) in continuance of his Gutta Baby project with visual to his new single “The Plan (Pt. 2).” The sequel to the 2020 standout track “The Plan” continues the storyline of an apparent robbery gone wrong, as seen in the video.

Unfortunately, not only did the currently-incarcerated Foogiano find himself in legal trouble following an arrest in Memphis due to a fugitive warrant back in March, but he will also not be joining the rest of DX‘s Rising Stars for the 2021 Rolling Loud stage.

Last month Foogiano also managed to get into a sort-of-debacle with Trey Songz, after the singer posted a picture of Foogiano’s girlfriend Renni Rucci on social media:

“Trey, you a bitch … I’ma slap the fuck out you when I catch you, boy,” an angry Foogiano said from behind bars. “You better have a lot of security with you. And we gon’ slap the fuck outta them, too, with your ho ass.”

Trey didn’t directly respond to the “TRAPPER” rapper, but the internet hyped an “LMAO” emoji and a “picture that” caption on an Instagram photo Trigga posted suggesting that was his response.

Let’a just hope that upon release, Foogiano stays focused on the music and the bag.

“The Plan (Pt. 2)” is currently trending on YouTube at No. 29. Watch the video above.
