Sometimes Hip Hop can move at a pace too frantic for even the most devoted fan to keep up with. Albums and mixtapes are released at breakneck speed, careers are made and broken with the swipe of a pen, and somewhere in between all the madness actual music (the quality of which vacillates between excellent and god awful) is being made. Twitter provides a nice summary of everything 140 characters at a time. And if you’re the type that would rather not be bothered with stepping into the Twitterverse to catch up on the latest in Hip Hop, we’ve filtered through the top rapper’s tweets and consolidated all the week’s events into one convenient feed.

This week, Lupe Fiasco defends Lasers and Action Bronson sings along to one of the year’s catchiest Pop fusion singles.

Drake Takes Nicki Minaj On A Snack Shopping Spree

Nicki Minaj took a break from filming the “She Came To Give It To You” video with Usher to hang out with her favorite lap dance receiver Drake. The two walked into a convenience store, because that’s what friends do, and Drake thought it would be a good time to make it rain and said, “I’m splurging today.” “Get whatever I want?” says Nicki. “Get whatever you want,” replies Drake. “All you got to do is point.” And she pointed at the Cheez-Its. Big K.R.I.T. Tells Def Jam That He Has A Hit

Big K.R.I.T. released a summer single in July featuring artist-and-producer Rico Love, produced by Jim Jonsin and appropriately titled “Pay Attention.” In his recent tweet, he wrote that he realized that “Pay Attention” is a hit and he’s waiting on his label Def Jam to approve it as a “radio single.” We’ve seen many rappers get frustrated by the slow-moving pace of the record industry, but K.R.I.T. decided to speak up. In October, he’ll be heading on the “Pay Attention” tour, again bringing more light to the title of his future radio single.

Lupe Fiasco Defends Lasers, Again

Love and hate. It all comes with the territory of being a big artist. Lupe Fiasco fans often fluctuate on their feelings towards his third studio album, Lasers, most likely because Lupe flip flops on his own album too. “I love and hate this album,” Lupe told Complex back in 2011. “I listen to it and I’ll like some of the songs. But when I think about what it took to actually get the record together and everything that I went through on this record—which is something I can’t separate—I hate this album.” Three years later, Lupe is still defending his piece of work, at least just one more time.

Wiz Khalifa & Amber Rose At 2014 MTV VMAs

Wiz Khalifa, who’s Blacc Hollywood album just went #1, and Amber Rose walked the red carpet at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards but all eyes were on Amber Rose and her barely-there dress. Not sure if you would consider what Amber wore a dress, but the collection of chains strategically placed around her body that had heads turning was designed by Laura Dewitt. Amber looked great and Wiz sure looked like he didn’t mind.

YG Shares Picture From L.A.’s Made In America Festival

Jay Z’s Made In America Festival, which is also being held in Philadelphia, is being held for the first time in Los Angeles this three-day weekend. Day one went down yesterday (August 30) and while the temperature hit above the 90s, YG kept the crowd moving with his high-energy set. If he performed tracks off his debut, My Krazy Life, then it’s easy to see why the audience kept moving left, right along with DJ Mustard’s bouncing beats. According to the L.A. Times, “several attendees were treated by medics on site after they fainted from heat exhaustion.”

Drake Wants To Battle Murda Mook

So word has it that when Drake bumped into battle rapper Murda Mook at the club, he challenged Mook to a battle. Mook shared a picture of him and Drake on his social media accounts with the caption, “So this is @champagnepapi telling me he wants to battle me. And he is actually serious! Who got the check?” and the internet went wild. Drake has been “battling” Lil Wayne on tour every night so he probably was hyped up after a show when the challenge came about. Hopefully we’ll be able to see this, and if so, Drake will become the latest commercial rapper to get in the ring.

Joe Budden’s First World Phone Problem

You know when you’re chatting with someone on text (on the iPhone) and you watch the chat bubble light up for minutes. You sit there wondering what kind of paragraph the other person is drafting up and then all you get in return is “K.” Joe Budden decided to share his texting struggles on Twitter but it’s something that we can all relate to.

RiFF RAFF Wins At The MTV VMAs Without Being Nominated

RiFF RAFF basically just showed up with Katy Perry on his arm and caused a huge publicity stunt for himself. Oh, and he was wearing matching studded-jean outfits with Katy that were designed by Versace. Oh, and he rode up to the red carpet on a “candy yam lamb.” I didn’t bother to mention his shark teeth diamond grills or his brightly colored cornrows because that’s very RiFF RAFF of him. Did I mention that he wasn’t even nominated for an award at the VMAs? Not that it mattered, he still sat front row at the show.

Action Bronson Tweets “Rude” Lyrics

There’s a Reggae/Pop single titled “Rude” by MAGIC! that’s been spinning on the radio every hour since the single was discovered to hold special powers of mind control over any ear it reaches. In case you care, the song is about a guy who is trying to ask for his girlfriend’s hand in marriage, but continually gets denied by her father. It isn’t surprising that Action Bronson had the song stuck in his head at one point this week. “Rude” might be getting more radio play than Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy.”

“106 & Park” On Hiatus After Blue Ivy Joke

BET pissed off the Beygency earlier this week when Karrueche Tran made a joke about Blue Ivy on “106 & Park.” While she was reading a list of the “Top Six Things Blue Ivy Thought About The VMAs,” Karrueche blurted out a scripted joke in the list saying,” I really did wake up like this because my parents never combed my hair.” She tried to follow up her bad joke with “Sorry, Blue! I love you.” But it was too late. All hell broke loose. According to reports, a “106 & Park” producer got fired and the show went on hiatus. Are Beyoncé fans that powerful? Bow Wow says it was a planned hiatus but the timing doesn’t seem to work on their favor.
