Lil Mama, who recently released the widely popular “Lip Gloss” song heard everywhere, is linking up with a mainstream pop singer in Avril Lavigne. The pair have united for the remix of Avril‘s “Girlfriend”.

According to Lil Mama, this is a big way for her to gain wisdom about the industry.

“I’m honored because I don’t know if everyone knows, but Avril Lavigne is so big…And I look up to her because she’s older than me — even though she’s small, we both small — she’s had history in the music industry and I look to her for answers or key points on which way to go. It’s not even my second single. I put out my first single, but this is my second video. She’s shot about 10. So I can ask her what it’s like shooting all them videos,”
    Lil Mama told MTV.

The pop sensation (Avril) also added that she felt good with the change of direction the track has given her career. She went on to add that this is something new, but she still managed to make it her own.

” ‘Girlfriend’ is a new thing to me. It’s my most pop song. [Dancing] suits it. I never thought about [dancing], but when ‘Girlfriend’ became a single, I was like, ‘I’m gonna dance in this video.’ I made it cool, my style. I’m growing, and with each record I’ll try new things naturally. My new record has different styles. This year I’m wearing heels and dresses and nobody would ever think I would do that. So I’m dancing in my video. It’s poppin’!”

‘s Voice of the Young People is scheduled to drop later this year with production from Swizz Beatz, Scott Storch and others.

With a new album, Exclusive, due in August, Chris Brown is looking for one of his greatest influences to appear on a track.

We are talking about Michael Jackson, who recently reached out to the young singer.

“He actually spoke to me like a regular person, and he was like, ‘I like your music.’ He said his favorite song was ‘Shorty Like Mine’ that me and Bow Wow did. I appreciated talking to him,”
    he told MTV.

According to Brown, he is also awaiting The Game, Lil’ Wayne and Juelz Santana to drop verses for the LP. Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Scott Storch may also appear on the LP.

“I’m gonna work with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake, so I’m probably gonna do something with Justin [singing on it]…Me and Scott Storch did a record, and we was gonna put Game’s verse on it, but we don’t know if we gonna use that record yet. I got collaborations with Mary Mary. I got a song called ‘Throwed’ with Bryan-Michael Cox that’s crazy. I got this Will.I.Am record me and Tank wrote called ‘Picture Perfect’ and this other one called ‘Kiss Kiss’ I wrote with T-Pain that T-Pain produced.”

He also spoke on his musical direction.

“I wrote almost every song. I think I’m writing about the same topics [as the last album] but just a little older. I’m not leaving my kid audience, but I’m being who I am and just going in and having fun.”

According to the star, he’s been recording at a rapid pace, Why?

“I’m trying to be the R&B Tupac…I’m trying to make as many records as I can so when I’m out of this world, y’all can still have music from me nobody has heard yet.”
