Gillie Da Kid Holds Back Tears At Sauce Walka’s Touching Tribute To His Late Son

Gillie Da Kid became visibly emotional after Sauce Walka paid tribute to his late son, YNG Cheese.

The Houston rapper invited Gillie and his Million Dollaz Worth of Game co-host Wallo down to Splash House for an interview, where he unveiled a larger-than-life cardboard cutout of Cheese, who was killed in 2023.

In response to the cutout being unveiled, Gillie said: “I love you n-ggas, man. Gotta hold back my tears, man. God damn.”

Gillie, Wallo and Walka also posed for a picture with the cutout.

YNG Cheese was shot and killed in July 2023 at the age of 25, with Gillie paying tribute to his son shortly after.

“I Miss u like $hit Dev My heart will forever have a Black hole in it but u know ur father gotta be strong to hold the family up,” he wrote on social media.

“Thanks 4 all the support from family, friends, and all of my followers y’all really helping me get thru these ruff times Me and my family appreciate and love y’all [blue heart emoji].”

He added: “Rest Well dev and watch over us u know I got chase [crying emoji] love u Cheese [five crying emojis].”

The Philadelphia rapper-turned-podcaster later detailed how he washed his son’s body ahead of his burial.

“The worst time had to be when I had to wash his body,” he said. “But it was also the best because I became a man that day. I was a little-ass boy up to that point. I thought I was a man because I did man shit — I paid bills, y’know what I mean, I took care of my family.”

He continued: “It was a gift and a curse. It was a good thing and a bad thing because it was a very painful thing to see your son laying there, cold and stiff, but I know I sent him off right, y’know what I mean, and in Islam, that’s a big thing — sending them off right.”

Wallo also paid tribute to Cheese following his death, saying: “Lil Cuz usually when I talk to you, I got a lot to tell you. Tonight the pain in my heart & tears spoke to you. I love you beyond life Cheese. I got your father, Rest Well!”
