Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Akon [click here], Sister Sledge and Natalie Cole are some of the acts confirmed to appear at the Vienna Michael Jackson Tribute concert set to take place later this month. According to Billboard [click here], the performers will be on hand to celebrate the life of the pop icon. This event will take place in front of the Schoenbrunn Castle in Vienna on September 26.
All artists will sing Jackson’s greatest hits and some will perform digital duets with MJ’s image on a screen. In the end, all of the performers will sing a rendition of “We Are the World” and “Heal the World.”
Currently, there are 13 artists set to appear for the show. However, it is said that more than 20 performers are expected. More names will be announced to the public at press conferences as the month progresses.
Tickets are expected to sell from around $90 to $750 a piece.
In related news, Janet Jackson will pay tribute to her brother during the MTV Video Music Awards. The show will open with the tribute and it will air on Sunday at 9p.m. on the network. Jay-Z, Beyonce, Lady Gaga and more are billed as performers for the evening but are not expected to take part in the tribute.
