Earlier this week, West Coast rapper Ice Cube appeared on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss his upcoming album I Am The West and his various other projects.
In the interview, Ice Cube revealed that he’s currently working with Dr. Dre on his new album.
“I was in the studio with Dre a couple of days ago,” Ice Cube explained. “He working on Detox. It’s off the hook. [He’s] working on my album too. It’s dope.”
It has been well over a decade since Dr. Dre and Ice Cube last worked together. They last teamed up for War & Peace Vol. 2’s “Hello” and “Chin Check” a song featured on the Next Friday soundtrack.
Ice Cube will also be appearing at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City this week to premiere his documentary Straight Outta L.A.
I Am The West is scheduled to be released on July 13.

I agree. It appears that his ego is getting the best of him, much like KRS-One when his career in music began to slide. Cube’s history in hip-hop is undisputed. After 21 years of commercial exposure, there’s really no need to attack other rappers, particularly on a theory of not being tough. I’m not saying that he shouldn’t have an opinion, there’s just a better way of framing it.
