DX News Bits: Gucci Mane, Ed Lover, 60 Second Assassin

Despite his own choice, Gucci Mane is back in the spotlight. The southern rapper, along with his booking agent Johnnie Cabbell and So Icey Entertainment CEO Debra Antney are being sued by William Marshall (Marshall Productions) and Derrick Brown (Rockstar Entertainment) for a handful of concert no-shows.

Marshall and Brown claim Gucci’s representatives received two deposits of $13,750 for shows to be performed in Pittsburgh last August, which were never fulfilled. They also allege Antney and Cabbell purposefully scheduled concerts for Gucci Mane at a time when he could not leave the state of Georgia due to parole violations.

The defending parties are seeking over $25,000 in damages. A court date for the case has not been set.

In other news, radio personality Ed Lover is expanding his infamous “C’mon Son” campaign into new ventures.

The phrase, which started as a witty quip on his radio show soon turned into an online success through his 12-part “C’mon Son” webisode series. “‘The C’mon Son’ catch phrase has quickly become a phenomenon – both with Ed’s listeners and fans and amongst pop culture enthusiasts…We are looking to super serve the masses with multiple ways they can ways to support the ‘C’mon Son’ movement,” said Michael Williams, Lover’s business partner.

According to Williams, a series of voice back and voice tone sound bites recorded by Ed Lover will soon be available for mobile phone users, as well as other merchandise for purchase.

Finally, after a handful of delays, Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Sunz Of Man’s 60 Second Assassin will be releasing his debut album Remarkable Timing on June 22.

The album, which features guest appearances from the likes of Masta Killa, Planet Asia, M-Eighty, as well as a reunion track from Sunz Of Man, provides the work of a man who has patiently waited for over a decade to release a full-length disc to his unwavering fans.

60 Second Assassin’s Remarkable Timing will be released through Sound Records & Entertainment/Holy Toledo Productions/101 Distribution.

    1. 60 Second Assassin is nice..it’ll be interesting to hear an album a decade in the making. Let the Wu ressurgence continue…

      1. I didn’t know the Wu resurgence included weed carriers. I guess this is the perfect time for Shorty Sh*t Stain and Carlton Fisk to come out.

      2. Nike Champ: Since when is an artist that has a gold plaque for Sunz of Man and 2 platinum plaques for his contributions on OB4CL and Supreme Clientele considered a weed carrier…I wish I could see every single last shit talker like you face to face and make you kiss my fucking AF1.

      3. M-Eighty – first and foremost I think the album will be banging because of the producers and artists involved, and I’ll support it no doubt. But c’mon – OB4CL, SC, any SoM album….. were 60’s contributions a relative high point, or a low point of all those projects?……… exactly.

This album is his opportunity to shine. Will he take it? or hide behind a mass of guests? Either way’s fine by me as long as the finished product’s hot.

    2. have these idiots forgot guccis in fuckin jail??? i think its bullshit when ppl try to sue these rappers while their locked up, i mean they have no control of the situation what are they supposed to do about it when they are locked up in a cell
