The Detroit News has reported that Lil Wayne owes over seven-figures in back-taxes to the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS filed a 1.1 million dollar lien on Wayne in a Dade County Florida court last month. This lien comes from taxes Wayne owes from 2004, 2005 and 2007.
With interest and penalties, Wayne’s sum is approximately 1.3 million altogether.
At present, Wayne is incarcerated at New York’s Rikers Island for drug and weapons convictions, he is expected to be released in November of this year.

It’s not always that they just don’t outright pay them…When you make money from so many different streams, there is a lot of gray areas on what you can claim and what you can’t…If the IRS goes back and looks at it and says you claimed something you shouldn’t have, then you pay up…If your accountant sucks, then you can also get into this situation…If he just didn’t outright pay them, he’d be under income tax evasion charges and be facing criminal charges

I see a couple questions about tax debts being made public that will soon turn into “this is a conspiracy.” No its not. The Detroit paper that’s doing this has a feature called Tax Watchdog whereby they go through tax claims filings in different states and out people with big debts. So no its not rappers they are targeting, its everybody. They outed Brooke Shields, they even outed the girl who played Blair in Facts of Life, forget her real name, although I disagree with them “outing” her. She along with a group invested in a skyscraper in Pittsburgh. The building was sold at a loss of millions of dollars, but the govt wanted them to still cough up some bread. So anybody that owes a lot of money gets targeted by the Detroit News. Tootie must be up on her tax payments though.
Like someone said, this is only a couple concerts for Li’l Wayne, but it does beg a few questions. Birdman and his brother took in Weezy when he was a kid, so they brought him up and should have taught him a few things. Birdman is making videos of himself dropping a $4 million bet on a fight, but Weezy owes a milli in back taxes going back three years, why?. If this was just last year’s taxes, we could say paper work ain’t been filed yet, but in this case, there is obviously a problem. You don’t keep up on your taxes, it creeps on up on you and next thing you know, you can’t pay the bill. I’m sure they (wrongfully) share the same accountant, so what’s going. He also needs to know what’s going on with his money and not rely on accountants to handle it all. The accountant ain’t making the money for you. Also, hopefully, Cash Money isn’t filing paperwork claiming they paid Weezy money that he never got.
Someone also posted how taxes are calculated. If you make under the table money and the IRS wants to come after you, this is how they would do it, except it won’t hold up in court of course. In this case however, Weezy’s income gets reported. They do a show, maybe in the cuts, someone hands them 50,000 in cash and they think its not reported. It is, because that’s an expense for the concert promoter and he needs to deduct that.
