Rapper and former 2 Live Crew member Luther “Luke” Campbell is just one of many people who have shared their thoughts on a possible mosque near Ground Zero in New York City. The rapper recently shared his thoughts in a blog entry for MiamiNewTimes.com.
“I don’t care how anyone tries to spin it; the people behind the mosque are using our kindness as a weakness,” Luke explained in his blog last week. “You’ll never see the Ku Klux Klan try to put up a building in the heart of Liberty City.”
Luke even called out President Obama in his blog for approving of the placement of the mosque near Ground Zero.
“President Obama was dead-ass wrong when he said he was OK with the $100 million development,” said Luke. “He took the middle-of-the-road approach when he said we have to tolerate other religious views in a free country. I am not with that. Hell, no.”
In conclusion, Luke explains that the mosque should be placed elsewhere and that “there are many good Muslims, but we also know there are a bunch of messed-up radicals who want to strap bombs to themselves and kill babies.”
Wow Luke…I’m not surprised that the man with the VMA show about running a strip club would be so ignorant when it comes to religion. I don’t exactly think it’s a great idea to put a mosque near Ground Zero, but my reason has nothing to do with Islam. I think it’s a bad idea because there are too many ignorant people like Luke who would start a problem over it. I also think it does nothing to promote a positive image for Islam. However it shouldn’t be a bad idea. We should be able to get past the tragedy that happened 9 years ago, and move forward. We, as a country, should be able to rise above the hate and learn from the past. No disrespect and my condolences goes out to everyone who lost someone in 9/11. For those who think the people responsible are ‘crazy Muslims’, you’re wrong. They’re not. Islam goes against everything they stand for, so how can they be Muslims? Would you say the KKK are good Christian people? They’re not. I think the War On Terrorism isn’t going so well, and that’s an understatement, because we don’t really understand who we’re fighting. We have preconceived notions that they are Muslims and that they are all the same. They’re not. Sun Tzu was right when he said “Know your enemy”. We don’t.
I would also like to point out that there were many Muslims who died in 9/11 as well. Think about that the next time you call a Muslim a terrorist or a towelhead.

The only way to solve the mosquque issue in NYC is to make the center into a multi-religion center where every religion of the world can come in there any pray in silence to whatever god they want to. Like a Church/Temple/Mosque…etc To make a beautiful building to be the model of the world and unite different religions instead of having them grow apart. United States was built as model nation and should be a model for peace too.

i dont know what news sources you have been reading but this so called ‘mosque’ was actually being built as you described, i.e. a multi-faith community centre for interfaith dialogue and other such activities attempted to unite Americans. However, unfortunately for one reason or another the western media has protrayed the construction of such a site as a victory for ‘radicals’, in fact to allow such a construction would be a GREAT victory for America as the fundamentalists across the world would no longer be able to call up on the ideology of islam vs. america/the world in order to recruit other terrorists.
