Tony Yayo has been along for 50 Cent’s meteoric rise to fame since the beginning, so it’s natural that he’s picked up some stories along the way.
In a recent interview with Hip Hop Nation, Yayo recalled one of his favorite memories alongside Fif. “It was one day we were in the studio and I’ll never forget this,” he explained. “It was [around the time of] Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and Dr. Dre was in the studio. Like I was saying, it was me and my man Weezy and 50, he did [‘Heat’], he did ‘P.I.M.P.’, he did like three songs in one day. And Kanye West was in the studio, I remember that. He was trying to like sing in Sha Money [XL]’s ear. It was just a crazy day that day.”
Yayo revealed that two of New York’s most revered emcees weren’t able to attack the beat from “Heat” like 50 did. “Busta [Rhymes] was in the studio, Dre and I remember nobody could mess with this beat. This beat had gun sounds and cocking in [that] Dre made. I remember Busta tried, Rakim [tried] and 50 got on and just killed it. It was one of my favorite experiences in the studio.”

whoever made this article is an instigator and is distorting what was said and deliberately taking it out of context. There was no comparison drawn in yayo’s statements, he didn’t create any feeling of a competitive environment between rakim, busta and 50. This article reads like it came from a gossip site.

Sounds like 50 was in a zone. Its hard to touch anybody when they in the zone plus he was hungry. Truthfully, “Heat” sounds like some old Busta beat (off When diaster strikes or ELE), so of course Busta could’nt really mess with it cause he was past that style, he wanted something new from Dre. 50 was just happy to get on any Dre Beat.
Rakim set the standard in the late 80’s early 90’s, but since that time he has not been that good. Ra will always be one of my all time favorites, but sorry his time has passed. So 50 sounding better on a Dre track than Rakim make sense. People act like when big names get together their is always going to be magic. Dre and Ra was not a good fit, Eric B has and will always be the best thing for Rakim.
So just becasue Yayo saying who 50 was better than on that day means nothing, nigga that’s one day. 50 had one classic album and Busta and Ra have at least 6 combined. 50 had help to get as big as he is, he stole Ja Rule’s style and crushed his career, plus Hip Hop was dead in the 2000’s so people were looking for something new and it made him seem bigger than he was.
