Wyclef Jean recently addressed his affair with Lauryn Hill in his autobiography Purpose: An Immigrant’s Story, discussing the nature of their relationship in the media. The Haitian singer stopped by Power 106’s Big Boy’s Neighborhood to go further into detail, stating that Pras probably blames his fling with Ms. Hill for the Fugees’ breakup and that he takes blame for the group’s demise.
“I’m sure he definitely blame me. And if you go back to the old articles one time, you know where Pras was like, ”Clef is the cancer of the Fugees.’ You remember when he said that?” he said. “At the time, you’ve gotta understand his frustration though. It was more like, I really wanted this thing to work and you shouldn’t have messed with the girl. Matter of fact, didn’t I warn you about messing with the girl?'”
‘Clef continued by stating that as a man, he takes the blame for dismantling something that was going well for others. He said that he admitted to the affair beacuse he wants to be looked at as a human being.
“Now, as a man and looking back, definitely take blame in the sense of having fell for Lauryn at the time,” he said. “It was important that I explained it in the sense of vulnerability, meaning not as ‘feel sorry for me’ type of dude but as human beings. At times, we lust and for me, it was not even lust at that time because it was spending too much time anyway. In the book, I describe at that time, it was more of a muse type of relationship.”

Here’s what’s going on in Lauryn’s head: First off, Lauryn is reportedly bipolar. She’s touring more in recent years, and plans on releasing new music in the form of a studio album in the very near future. She feels as though she can do without her legacy being tainted by guys like Clef with all the hate he’s put out there on her the past decade.
Im sure her own reported insecurities had something to do with her asking Clef to say this publicly as a favor (no matter how true or untrue) publicly so that she can re-enter the limelight unblemished and ready to take the music world by storm yet again.
It’s just more unfiltered drama from one of the best trios in music ever. Don’t think much of it
