A$AP Rocky Says Big K.R.I.T. Has The Best Verse On “1 Train”

Even though his debut album LongLiveA$AP only just hit shelves earlier today, A$AP Rocky’s crew-cut “1 Train” has been garnering a lot of talk from listeners. Now, in a recent interview with Hot 97’s Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg via RapRadar, Rocky explains who he thinks has the best verse.

Of an ensemble featuring Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Action Bronson and himself, Rocky said he thinks it’s Big K.R.I.T. who has the winning verse on the song. Rocky also spoke on the song’s title, explain that he viewed each emcee along the 1 train which he rode growing up.

“[K.R.I.T.] rips the whole track,” he said. “I’ma be honest, I think it is [the best verse], man. Me and [Ebro Darden] were going back and forth about it before…we was debating ‘cus it’s just like, you can’t really say one it better than the other, because everybody is different on it and you can’t really compare one rapper to another…I’ma have to go with K.R.I.T. though, man. I told him to do 16 bars, and he did about 120.”

He added, “I was just thinking of each artist as a different train stop, and when you hear that beat, it just brings me back to like – well, for me, it brings me back to being at the bus stop or being on the train early in the morning, cold, mad at life on the way to school late. I’m showing up third period – that’s the 1 train. Anything is better than the 1 train.”

    1. I think Yela’s whole verse lost respect when he compared himself to Pac. Get outta here. On the flipside, top 3 is krit, k dot, and danny brown (wouldn’t hit that with my worse enemy’s penis) haha

    2. “I carry traits of a traumatized soldier. Dont look in my face, I might snap. I might choke ya.” -Kendrick
      1. Kendrick
      2. Danny Brown
      3. Joey B/Action Bronson

      1. Your shitting me…Action Bronson killed it.. Kendrick is dope but didn’t kill the song. It goes..
        1. BIG KRIT
        2. Action Bronson
        3. Danny Brown
        4. And so on..

    3. I wish the song would have just been A$AP Rocky, Big Krit, and Yellow Wolf. That way it would have just been all southern artists, and they are all the new faces of the south right now. How crazy would it be if they formed together as a supergroup? That would be new for the south. Like a southern version of the Wu Tame Clan or something. I think Yellow Wolf should leave Slaughterhouse and either form a new group with other southern rappers or just go solo. I’m definitely going to buy A$AP Rocky’s and Joe Buddens’s debut albums. Support new artists.

      1. You do know that A$AP is from Harlem NY, right?

And honestly, I thought Yelawolf was kinda out of place on the song. Krit did kill it, though. Action Bronson is 2nd for me.

      2. I’m pretty sure he’s from the south. That’s why he does the chopped and screwed thing and talks about lean in his songs. Eye appreciate the reply but just do your homework if you want to engage in a hip-hop conversation.

      3. Dude he is definitely from Harlem, which is in New York incase you forgot. And the dudes names in Yelawolf, not Yellow Wolf haha. And lastly, Joe Budden isn’t a new artist. That dudes been rapping for like 10 years, man. You are all over the place, talking about do your homework and shit. Bro, DO YOUR HOMEWROK.

    4. I’m pretty sure Joe Buddens is new. Eminem signed him and Slaughterhouse last year or the year before and they released their debut album last year. It was called Welcome To Our House.

      1. You dont recall the song he had called “Pump it up” that came out around 2003? You are just an uneducated prick, brah

      2. I’m pretty sure you’re thinking of a different rapper. The one I’m talking about just got signed last year by Eminem on Shady Records. He’s also on Love & Hip-Pop which is a new show as well. Eye think you should do your research.

      3. If you really did your research better you’ll know that is the same Joe Budden from 03. Plus Em didn’t sign anybody to Slaughterhouse, Slaughterhouse is signed to Shady. You prally think that’s their album too, huh?

      4. Maybe there is another Joe Budden that makes music in this so called”Hip – Pop” genre that he spoke about.

      5. If you look at this comment and the one below this, it should be clear to anybody with sense that “Eye Control” is a fucking troll. He’s intentionally giving false info to make yall reposnd. Whoever responds to him after this comment is retarded or just another troll.

    5. STAYY UHPP CLEVERR FAMMILYY HOWW YAHH NIQQASS DIOINQQ HOWWW YAHH NIQASS DOINQQ BIGG TIME PLAYAZSS HAHA WHAQTSSS CRACKINN WITHH THEE BITCHIZZ G HAHAHA HOWW THEYY DOINQQ TOO GETT ITT HAHA

      1. Joey Bada$$ is wack and only appeals to niggas still living in the 90’s. He’s a rapper who reads a dictionary and tries to incorporate high diction in his rhymes to project himself as “sick”. thumb down.

      2. @anonymous so in other words, you mad cuz he can actually rap and does the things required to be considered a true mc, like great wordplay and high diction?! go sit yo wack ass down man

    6. He’s right…

      1. KRIT
      2. Kendrick
      3. Action Bronson
      4. Joey Badass
      5. Danny Brown
      6. A$AP Rocky
      7. Yelawolf

Technically, I know Yelawolf did better than some, but he just feels out of place on the song…

      1. I AGREE. YELAWOLF HAD A GOOD VERSE. HE HAD SOME GOOD WORD PLAY BUT HE WAS JUST OUTTA PLACE ON THIS ONE…KRIT MOS DEF GOT THE BEST VERSE

    7. Yea K.R.I.T., Joey Bada$$ & Kendrick are some of the best new emcees to come out in years. Shout out in to Action Bronson too, we need more artist who arn’t afraid to rep New York!!

    8. here’s my list:
      1. fuck your list
      2. fuck your list
      3. fuck your list
      4. fuck your list
      oh yeah and
      5. fuck your god damn list you fucking faggot.

    9. Man that lineup is crazy, it’s like every new artist worth paying attention to all on one track (and some I wasn’t checking for but I might now). Only listened to it a couple times so hard to make a final decision but for me Yelawolf came the hardest. Which is funny, he’s like the only one on there I wasn’t really digging before.

    10. Thats some bullshit. Yelawolfs verse was out the water nigga. Prolly just bias to Krit cause Yela is white. Krits sounded better but lyrically Yela killed it, period.

      1. loooooooooooooooool yelawolf is so dry…….just another wack rapper (who cares if he is white) If Em never signed him NOONE would give a shit about his lame ass……weak rapper as well (see the Shady Cypher 2.0 for proof)

      2. dude yela did his thing but krit took but yelawolf’s imo was a very close second then maybe bronson then kendrick

    11. Danny brown sucks, his verse was def the weakest. We booed him off stage here in az when he opened for CG LOL.
Krit blew the track up, bronson and yela rocked that shit too but asap is just meh.
