Over the years, producers have become an essential factor in making a quality Hip Hop record. With the era of mumble rap causing fans to criticize the lyrics of some popular rappers, people gave praise to the producers who crafted the sounds coming from these artists.
On Tuesday (May 9), T-Pain took to Twitter to salute and show appreciation to the beatsmiths that continue to create the sound of Hip Hop.
“The producers are the ones that deserve all the clout because y’all really don’t be liking these songs, y’all really just like the beats,” T-Pain tweeted. “When you hear a certain producer’s tag you don’t give a fuck who’s on it because you know you gon like the beat give them they flowers fr.”
Despite fans listening to songs for the beat instead of the rhymes, producers still won’t get the credit they deserve. That’s partially why producers like Metro Boomin and the collective Internet Money have released albums as leading artists — producers don’t get enough credit.
“Notice I said ‘y’all don’t be liking THESE songs’ y’all know what fuckin songs I’m taking about,” T-Pain continued. “If I was talking about any other era I would’ve said ‘THOSE songs’ we on the same page but y’all ain’t reading between. Feel me?”
While he’s giving praise to all the producers that are keeping fans tuned in to Hip Hop, T-Pain must still be going through the two years worth of unread Instagram DMs he discovered last month.
On April 28, The singer took to Instagram to share a video of him scrolling through all the DMs he’s accidentally left unread, with some big names showing up. Messages from Viola Davis, YBN Nahmir, Diplo, Fergie, NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns, Keri Hilson, pornstar Nina Kayy, Princess Pia Mia and soccer player Daniel Sturridge were sitting in T-Pain’s inbox, and all he could do was shake his head in disbelief.
“I swear,” he wrote in the caption. “I’m just now seeing all these messages and mentions TODAY!!!! How do I super apologize? Press conference? Town hall meeting? I’m dumb.”
True to some extent, if it has a good beat lyrics come secondary….if the beat isn’t there, most people skip but when you got a solid beat and good rhymes it’s worth a relisten obv: common sense duh!
Agreed, these are facts
Rappers are pushing an image and pipe dream, producers/engineers are the one’s actually pushing music
Nas? Have we forgotten about Nas?
Hell naw Nas! He is the greatest of all time!!! TPain is just mad that no one wants to hear his lame ass!!! Jay Z killed his auto tune career. Hahahahahaha
Autotune career? You are not really in touch with reality..
You can tell who can’t read and just stare at headlines. T-Pain also inferred he was speaking about NEW RAP not the classics. Y’all are an embarrassment on so many levels
I would agree that the beat and flow are the most important things, lyrics are often what takes a good song to being a great song.
For music fans, like myself, the song needs to have a good to great beat for me to stay interested and add great lyrics to turn it to an amazing track. Even if when some songs have wack lyrics, at least the beat will still keep me in tune. It’s the “real hip hop” heads where only lyrics are the end all, be all for what makes a good song and not the overall sound. And that’s where some of those lyrical types of rappers struggle to make great music and consistent albums.
Anti-intellectual who can’t process lyrics and is more concerned about a “vibe”
I come for the beats, stay for the lyrics. Delivery/flow doesn’t really matter. Even a rappers voice matters to me more than a flow.
If you don’t got good lyrics or at least interesting lyrics I don’t listen to past 30 seconds.
Old TPain washed up auto tune pop rapper. A DJ doesn’t not deserve shit!! Like Bernie Mac said on Player’s Club all they do is spin records!!! ???? F out of here TPain!
T pain may be old news but he speaks facts. Producers create the entire song, being that 80% of hip hop artists today rap just like one another. the only thing that sets most hip hop artists apart these days is the production behind the nonsense they spit. the new isaiah rashad single is a perfect example. His lyrical work on the song is luck luster to say the best, but the beat was slapping. I didn’t see any flowers for the producer though..
Man no one cares about no producers! No talent!
He is not talking about DJ`s. He`s talking about the producers that actually make the beats
don’t hate a man cuz he talking facts… he is the only one how properly used autotune before it turned into a pointless gimmick
“I bomb atomic-“
One of the greatest verses from what I consider the greatest rap song of all time. Nothing of the new era has even come close!
Depends on the fan. I’m a lyrics guy at core. I also appreciate diverse rap styles and something that makes an artist stand out. That is part of the skill.
Dude is right!! Some of these lyrics they rap about is straight trash!! Nice beat but some of the lyrics are about eating groceries and suckin ;;;;!!
Well stop hating on DJ Khaled!!!
Producers have no talent! End of discussion! No flowers shall be given!!!
TPain is the worst! A fake ass Milli Vanilli!
I’ve never gone to song, just because of the producer. I look for the artists. The only point, in which I would go to a producer, is for the ones that actually do continually put out albums. Someone like 9th Wonder. But those producers lean closer to being actual artists rather than just someone providing a beat, even if they aren’t rapping.
Cancel this fool! We should all give DJ Khaled his flowers! Hahahahahaha Be real! TPain is trash!!!
The only time I care about who produced it, is when it’s a DJ Paul/Juicy J beat, cause I know it’s gonna be fire!! ?
The dumb are mostly intrigued by the drum… – Rza
Corection: Masta killa said this line.
Still a great line nonetheless.
He’s not wrong. The beat and vocal performance is the first thing you hear. If they suck, you won’t bother hearing the lyrics. Still replay value is important, a Wu-Tang song can be analyzed for decades, less so with the modern molly/thot artists.
Amen.
If he is right y’all better give DJ Khaled his flowers!!!! Right now!!! No excuses if you say TPain is correct. If not please do not post! That simple!!! Move on!!!
DJ Khaled doesn’t make beats on his albums either (except two-three songs thoroughout his entire catalog lol)
we got clowns like pop smoke, lil_____, music being glorified and that’s because the beats go hard!!
I mean he’s not wrong.
He does have a point. IF people hold rappers feet to the fire like they do with Kendrick, J. Cole, Jay-Z, Nas, Rapsody, Eminem, Lil Wayne, etc. then I believe hip hop would be in a better place.
I most definitely agree. But people just listen to the music ,the beat in the hook . I wish we can get back to the music ?
