Westside Gunn Co-Signs His ‘Pray For Paris’ Is Better Than DaBaby’s ‘Blame It On Baby’

Westside Gunn has made it perfectly clear where he thinks his album ranks against DaBaby’s Blame It On Baby. On Saturday (April 18), the Griselda Records founder shared a popular meme of a person sitting at an outdoor table and taking a poll on a particular topic.

In this case, the poster features the cover of Westside’s new album Pray For Paris and DaBaby’s cover for his latest project Blame It On Baby. The greater-than-sign is pointing toward Pray For Paris.

The 37-year-old rapper wrote in the caption, “Good Morning #PrayforParis.”

Westside is evidently in better spirits these days. On Sunday (April 12), he revealed he’d recently recovered from a case of the coronavirus and admitted he’d felt like he was going to die at one point.

“I have a confession to Make I’m a Corona Survivor,” he wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. “I didn’t want anybody feeling sorry for me I had to thug it out for weeks I didn’t get to see my kids I went to the hospital feeling like I was breathing my last breath the fans and the love I was getting kept me strong I knew I had to drop this Pray for Paris bc GOD have bigger plans for me.

Westside Gunn On Coronavirus Battle: 'I Literally Thought I Was Dead'

“I went on Tidal live and Fat Joe live but soon as I was done I was right back on the breathing machine today is the first time besides the hospital that I’m about to go outside in a month thx to the ppl who did know and held me down now I’m about to go harder than I ever have that shit tore me up inside I literally thought I was dead designing these clothes and @virgilabloh having my back and @djpremier sending me a beat kept me motivated.”

DaBaby’s Blame It On Baby arrived on Friday (April 17) and includes from Future, Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch, Quavo, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Ashanti.

    1. This dude should be focusing on his retirement his first year popping and leave killers like DaBaby out of it. DaBaby sold more that’s for sure also he has a star studded album as well. Also I highly doubt DaBaby is thinking about this dude from Buffalo.

        1. What need is there to go to buffalo? Like who goes there fun? There’s nothing to see in buffalo if you don’t live there or used to live there, I’m sure da baby will be fine never going to buffalo who cares about buffalo lol

      1. STFu crackbaby oooh dababy is a killer!! his whole career is based off him killing someone in self defense. it aint like hes a stone cold killa smh making music for thots and ho niccas go sit down pillhead

    2. If you like either of these albums check out my shit where I talk all bout getting in the booty holes of underprivileged children.

    3. It’s already a fact that Pray For Paris > Blame It On Baby, but also Pray For Paris > A.D.H.D., that’s for gotdamn sure!

    4. Both albums are trash. Give me Tech N9ne or Shabazz Palaces new albums any day over those.

      1. Yeah, Tech’s album is actually quite good. A few projects ago all he released was…. Eh, not so good. He seems to have bounced back.

          1. I still don’t really care about that album, it’s the production that’s too repetitive. Like one single song that keeps playing with different lyrics on each part.

        1. Yeah DaBaby is better LoL, pure skills alone, WSG can’t even rap dude, that battle would be pure trash. DaBaby is sexy AF too, there is no comparison WSG is a janky ass looking negro but DaBaby can peg me anyday.

    5. Da Baby album is in its own lane. I have both of these junts. Let it stay as competition, we might get some nice albums outta this.

      1. Get the fuck outta here, Da Baby album was trash Westside Gunn is that real Hip Hop thing that is finally getting more recognition in the mainstream. Tech N9ne, Rugged man and Westside Gunn dropped dope albums. Da Baby is hippies fuck boys sissy rap shit. We dont wanna hear that

    6. Both are two of the worst rappers to ever pick up a mic. Both albums are landfill garbage trash. Westside Gunn thinks hes a mogul, when in reality he’s not even a blip on the rap radar screen. Today’s hip hop is worthless compared to that of the past.

        1. Ur dumb af obviously its in NY get a sense of humor you shmuck. Its closer to canada than NYC thats for sure. These dudes are posers.

      1. Yuck. Please find whatever corny white guy version of Hip-hop site and post there. R.A. the whiney bitch is straight garbage. Always has been. 378 features that album and EVERY song sucks. Even the ones with legends being paid to rap. Then that idiot tries to clown fake ass deal? LOL

    7. I dont even rock wit buddy…Benny is only solid mc out the crew…but dude had some solid production and features that but it over the top for tbh

    8. I listened to Pray for Paris, great album, true work of art. Most likely album of the year. Westside Gunn in rare form .

Extremely good. I haven’t listened to all of Da Baby’s albums, however, I will say it’s better than Da Baby’s prior albums. It’s not something to dance to in the club, it’s rap, art in it’s purest

    9. alvin the canadian chipmunk needs to go play the slot machines at the niagara falls casinos instead of murdering hip hop. AYO. AYO. AYO. BOOBOOBOOO DOOT DOOT DOOT BRRRR

      1. This is why you can’t leave the US for vacation without someone making comments on Americans being ignorant – imagine hating on someone because they live close to a border lol. Turn your tv off boss you need a reset

    10. I rock wit both of them p4p is a instant classic da baby album is 4 those time when u want to get crunk so they both in their own lane i dont know i guess u have to be in a mood to listen to them

    11. Da baby is an industry plant I’ll take griselda any day they’ve been in their own lane since starting

    12. I think they’re in different lanes on the same highway in terms of music. They appeal to different audiences but I can respect both of their work, even though I more into Westside album. I really get a Tyler the Creator/Ghostface feel on the latest album.

Dababy has that ignorant ish feel towards his albums that makes me laugh to be honest. Not really a fan of his work but he does have a song or 2 I can rock with. Salute to both of them though.

    13. Im from NC originally, so I check for Da Baby music but I was born in England so anytime people show love to the area and so the “Pray for Paris ” caught my eye because the love to Europe but forreal Griselda saved Hip Hop for me because ima 80s baby that lived in DC in 80s an can relate to Griselda music more so but that’s because them boys are hardest out and I can relate ,my best friend in FED right now on his 8th year down because our generation don’t believe in that ratn shit! Much Respect to both but Pray For Paris it is !

    14. Two different types of rap so I disagree. It is like comparing apples to oranges. I’m not really feeling the Pray for Paris album.

    15. Lmfao da baby lmfao niggas are really defending this no talent “rapper”, who sounds like the rest of these no talent radio rap goofballs, FOH

    16. It is not even close. Westside makes art. With dope ass production from the best like DJ zmuggs,Alchemist and Daringer while DaBaby makes commercial trap junk that sounds like 50 other dudes.

    17. Sir you’re 37 years old making gun sounds like a fuckin 12 year old. Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo. Wow such bars. There’s so many, many, many more wayyyy talented MC’s in the game but because they don’t fit “that image” of what a rapper should be, they don’t get the clout that these talentless hacks.
