“Cee Lo’s Magic Moment” Named One Of Rolling Stone’s “40 Essential Christmas Albums”

Cee Lo’s first holiday album, 2012’s Cee Lo’s Magic Moment, has been named one of Rolling Stone’s “40 Essential Christmas Albums.”

“Cee Lo got a raspy Rod Stewart to duet with him on ‘Merry Christmas, Baby’ and his fellow Voice judge Christina Aguilera to show up for ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside,’ but his ideal musical partners were the Muppets,” Rolling Stone says in its blurb of the Goodie Mob member’s album. “They collaborated here on ‘All I Need Is Love,’ based on the music to ‘Mahna Mahna.’ The result was pop R&B with bright colors, made out of felt and yarn – which suited this cartoonish, broadly appealing album.”

Other albums of note on the list include James Brown’s Funky Christmas, which was #4 on the list and was released in 1995. Brown is one of the most sampled artists in Rap history. Nas, Public Enemy and Eric B. & Rakim are among those who have sampled Brown’s material.

Ella Fitzgerald’s 1960 Ella Wishes You a Swinging Christmas is the #1 album on Rolling Stone’s “40 Essential Christmas Albums.”

    1. lol fuck rolling stone and fuck cee-lo. lets see: rolling stone put marathon bombers on cover = they are worthless trash. and cee-lo makes hip-hop records about being “conscience” and wisdom, then leaves his wife and brags about having sex with 3 different women every night. He then is caught putting xtasy into a womans drink without her knowledge before soliciting sex from her. Cee-lo is trash incarnate.
