Joe Budden proposed to his longtime on-again-off-again girlfriend Tahiry Jose in an episode of “Love & Hip Hop” yesterday (January 20).
“I said to you that I want my words to match my actions,” Joe Budden says to Tahiry on the VH1 program. “That was incomplete. I want my actions to match my feelings. I want the ties that bind us together to always be stronger than those that tear us apart. I love you. I need you. I don’t want to spend another day without you. With that said, Tahiry-my-mom-didn’t-give-me-a-middle-name-Jose, will you marry me?”
Tahiry, who asks him not to get on one knee before Budden does, responds with a statement about her view of love.
“Love is trust,” she says. “And I don’t trust you right now. I can’t believe you. One day you’re good. One day you’re bad. One day there’s foundation on my pillow cases. One day you have a ring. How am I supposed to believe you?”
Joe Budden stands up. “That’s a no,” he says.
In the clip, Tahiry continues to speak about trust.
“So you think that you giving me a ring, I’m supposed to be like, ‘Two weeks ago, he was at the strip club with the next bitch on my bed and now he gives me a ring.’ I’m supposed to be like, ‘Yes, I do?’ Nobody gives a fuck about the clarity of the stone or your nice fuckin’ velour jacket. Get your shit right,” she said.
Budden responds with his take on what the proposal means.
“The ring is symbolic of me wanting to spend the rest of my life with you,” he says. “No matter what happens tomorrow or the day after, that’s what I want.”
In an interview with Budden after the proposal, he discusses patience.
“I don’t regret wearing my heart on my sleeve and telling Tahiry how much I love her,” he says in the clip. “I was hoping she’d be able to see that I’m ready and serious. Tahiry and I are meant to be together. It’s inevitable. If that means that I have to wait, then wait it is.”
Budden recently spoke about his work on Slaughterhouse’s new album.
“Not to take credit at all, but I feel like the new Slaughterhouse album has a real Budden-esque undertone,” Joe Budden said.
Glass House is set to follow the group’s 2012 album, welcome to: OUR HOUSE, an effort that was released through Shady Records. The album earned a 4.5 out of 5 X rating from HipHopDX at the time of its release.
Budden is also crafting All Love Lost, a project that he’s said will be “the exact opposite” of No Love Lost, which he released February 2013. No Love Lost earned a 3 out of 5 X rating when reviewed by HipHopDX.

Do people really think these shows are ‘scripted’? Sure, producers may set up situations where people that don’t like each other can all be in the same room, or may even encourage ignorant behavior – but ‘scripted’? seriously?
No way would I believe every single one of these guys is a great (or even passable) actor who can deliver even the simplest of lines with any believability. If this were scripted, you’d get lines delivered as poorly as State Property, or any other D class hood movie.

They’re artists who are used to making videos, being interviewed and looking and acting a certain way in the public eye. It obviously has to be scripted. Day to day life isn’t that interersting! Who wants to see Budden eating a bowl of cereal in the morning? Throw some lines and a little bit of drama in there and you got a story (for some, not me). Reality television is not reality!
