T.I. Joins Protest Against Atlanta Restaurant For Alleged Racial Profiling

After a group of black patrons was denied service at the Atlanta restaurant Houston’s, a video of the incident went viral.

T.I. was one of the first to respond and he thoroughly documented his actions on social media over the weekend.

The Atlanta rap titan first shared a post on Instagram calling for a boycott against Houston’s Lenox location for “recent acts of racial profiling.”

He then uploaded video of himself and a group of protesters in front of the establishment.

“We’re closing Houston’s down for the moment,” T.I. said in a video uploaded on Saturday (October 7). “Indefinitely. When they figure out how to treat us, they can open back up.”

The Us Or Else rapper also shared a screen capture of a 2015 news story about Houston’s parent company being hit with a discrimination lawsuit. He then uploaded a photo of a sign in front of Houston’s that read: “Sorry! We are now closed on Sundays.”

“This is nothing new,” he wrote in the caption. “Just wanna show support to all the people who’ve ever felt profiled or discriminated against at this establishment. WE WILL NOT accept this in our city. You may not care for US personally… BUT U WILL RESPECT THE POWER OF OUR DOLLAR!!!!”

The Instagram account for Houston’s seems to have pulled a post-and-delete with its statement on the matter, although it was captured by Baller Alert. It touched primarily on the restaurant’s seating policy and claimed the restaurant was unable to seat large groups.

    1. this dude Ti got nerve to even call someone else a racist …when his bitch ass aint nothing but a racist piece of shit. ti u a bitch cry baby ass. snitch ass bitch

    2. In 2017 everybody has to be a victim of something.. Overly sensitive babies these days. Watch the video, nothing racist to see. Stop being racially insecure & protesting because it’s the trendy thing to do these days. By the way, fix your first sentence in this article, “After a group of black patrons was denied service….” ‘Was’?? Terrible..

      1. Its the “Oppression Olympics”…to get the gold star, you need to be a black, transgender, and a feminist. This is coming from a straight black man from Atlanta…Im considered the white man of the black race..

        1. I read, speak affluently, quit drinking years ago, don’t blaze, read my kids to sleep, don’t rock baggy wear nor draw attention to myself in public. Open doors for others, say thank you and please, laugh at jokes and don’t listen to loud music, and have my ish together. Can’t stand the n word. Trust me, I’m the white man of the black race. It’s tough out here.

    3. Can’t believe this is the same dude who gave us Rubber Band Man and Bring Em Out. Can’t remember the last time I saw TI in the news for the music, just virtue signaling about Trump and now some bunk restaurant. Virtue signaling for the same woman who called y’all Super Predators smf, get back to RAP!

    4. Hip hop should protest this lame for not releasing a hot album in 10 + years. Dude really has that much free time he can stand outside a closed restaurant ??

    5. “T.I. and his business partner at the center of a new lawsuit.

Shady pay practices and lack of communication are among the claims being made by 12 employees at T.I.’s Scales 925 restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia.

According to Fortune, T.I. and his business partner, Charles Hughes are named in a new lawsuit filed by employees at Scales 925. The employees claim the pair have violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Additionally, employees were allegedly not paid overtime and were “coerced” into working off the clock. When approached about the restaurant’s shady pay practices, Hughes is said to have ignored employees.

The 12, Scales 925 employees are suing for backpay.

Scales 925 opened well over a year ago, and in that time the restaurant hasn’t faced the best of fortunes. Last October, a man was shot outside of the restaurant.” — HHDX ’16

    8. We need to boycott this violent racist misogynist criminal T.I.. Why is the T.I. spokesperson for racial equality? Stop buying the music, stop attending the concerts, stop giving this racist criminal a platform to speak…

    9. How can a man so devoid of morals really try to annoint himself a leader on this issue? People like TI have torn the black community down for years, now we are just supposed to believe hes an activist because he says hes one? Foh.

      1. He has always been one, just because he used to make music that would sale doesn’t mean he wasn’t an activist.
