Rhymefest has collaborated in times past with his Chicago brethren Kanye West and is counted as one of his closest allies in the industry. The “Brand New” artist announced today that he’s purchased West’s boyhood home and is turning it into a location for Donda’s House, the non-profit operation named after Yeezy’s late mother.
The rapper, real name Che Smith, posted a photo of himself on Instagram announcing the purchase and the aims of the space. Rhymefest intends to turn the home into an arts incubator space complete with a recording studio and hosting a series of teaching opportunities as well.
“I’m excited to announce the purchase of Kanye’s childhood home as a community Arts incubator. It will be the first of our Nationwide Lite-Houses. A state of the art recording studio, a curriculum space for @dondashouse and southside music museum,” wrote Rhymefest for the Instagram photo caption.
Rhymefest is the Creative Director of Donda’s House, which serves as an arts instruction institution.
this is the news I like to hear about HipHopDX…this is inspiring, always liked Fest’s thinking.
So Kanye was too poor to acquire it?
Really bro? That’s what you pulled out of your ass for this article. Someone actually trying to do something from the light in the city of Chicago and some internet troll goes on talking about this mf being too broke to buy his ow– you know what, it’s all wavy. Continue your pitiful life, have a blessed day, enjoy the DX as you would. But above everything, take the time to thank god that you still exist.
