Tech N9ne fans across the globe are uniting with prayers and positive vibrations as news surfaced that his aunt, Ivy Yates, was shot in her Kansas City, Missouri home Saturday (September 17), FOX4 reports.
Tech was traveling on his Strange Music Tour when he received the tragic news of his aunt being in the hospital with a punctured lung after being shot.
Yates was in her own home with her grandchildren before several gunshots rang out, penetrating the walls and striking Tech’s aunt, the woman who helped raised him, in the chest.
“I need all the prayers I can get from my Technicians for my aunt Ivy!” the Kansas City native captioned on an Instagram photo of him and his aunt. “Some demon shot her last night! Send Angel love this way so I can transfer it her way! Positive energy today people please!”
Aunt Ivy is now being surrounded by family and friends at her hospital bedside. Her health is slowly improving and she has been taken off the breathing machine. Tech N9ne shared another post with a screenshot of a text from his brother updating her status.
HipHopDX is sending our prayers to Tech N9ne and his family during this difficult time.

Fuck man. Tech might be one of a handful of rappers who I wish nothing but success for. Sad news.
*Sidebar* So was she targeted or a stray bullet came thru the house? Shitty all the way around.
What’s crazy is she raised you your filthy rich but if it was a random shooting nine time’s out of ten she stayed in the hood sad
He asked for prayers though. Not your judgement
And if she was in the hood what does that mean. Do you not have a family member stuck in their ways? Better yet, is your family the type that no matter how rich you are you still have to take out the trash? How do you know if Tech ain’t try to take her out the hood but she refused cuz her late husband worked 5 jobdms and walked 15 miles barefoot type story. Think man. You ain’t perfect either.
This could have happened anywhere. There are internet gangsters who believe their own hype in all neighborhoods.
