50 Cent & Dr. Dre Sued Over “P.I.M.P.”

50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’ is has been established as a classic Hip Hop album. One of the iconic tracks, “P.I.M.P.” has come under fire as producer Brandon Parrott has sued Dr. Dre and 50 for jacking a beat he says he sent to the Good Doctor a few years before the G-Unit general‘s debut album dropped in 2003.

According to TMZ, Parrott sent 10 beats to Dr. Dre in 2001, hoping he would use them for his Aftermath Entertainment artists, including Eminem.

When he found out his track, “BAMBA” was used on “P.I.M.P.” he struck a settlement with the credited producer, who claimed that he didn’t know Parrott’s track was going to end up on the final version of the song. “P.I.M.P.” was also remixed with Snoop Dogg, Lloyd Banks and Young Buck.

However, Parrott says that he has evidence that he was pimped and 50’s team knew “BAMBA” was used for the cut the whole time, so he is now taking legal action.

Parrott is listed alongside Mr. Porter for production on “P.I.M.P.” on Wikipedia. In the liner notes for Get Rich or Die Tryin’, only Mr. Porter, listed as D. Porter for his given name Denaun Porter, is credited for production on the song.

    1. Anybody can update Wikipedia right? I mean can’t I go on there right now and put my name down as a contributing factor to the project? Really though!? I thought Wikipedia was user based info?

    2. I bet D.Porter been getting some pretty good checks behind that song,I imagine dude just figured out those should be his

      1. Dude was not properly credited, look at the cd liner notes in the picture. The writers are 50cent and D.Porter.

      3. He wasn’t credited, look at the cd liner notes in the photograph. If his name isn’t on there then he doesn’t have a writer credit and he is not earning P.R.O royalties.

      1. Bro,the guy ALLEGEDLY passed his beat to an aftermath staff & later it ended up on GRODT as atrack produced by D. Porter of D12 & the guy himself. So,the question is why is he suing when he was credited? Why dre & 50? Why after 13 yrs? I know you didnt even read the whole shii..His suit ain’t going nowhere!

    3. Dre probably told him to hang tight and be cool and they’d get him on another project that will be way more lucrative. Now he sees Dre is retiring and he’s realizing he got got. This stuff does happen in the industry a lot though. Copywrite everything you make. I don’t care if you put it in an envelope and Mail it to yourself, if you’re letting industry niggas hear your shit, they’ll bite it if they like it. A very prominent rapper that everyone knows bit the first four bars of a rap of mine that I spit for him in 2003 when I was doing studio work for them. On my life. I don’t even mention it cause mufuckas will laugh in my face. But he knows he bit it, and he knows I know, that’s all that mathers.

      1. Did you not see that dr dre had nothing to do with that beat? D.Porter & the guy suing were both credited as producers and not dre. Hater!
